Default gc8 v7/v8 swap questions

I have a 1995 impreza L with a 1994jdm legacy swap in it but the swap is old and the motor has a ticking noise in it so I'm thinking about starting fresh and doing a v7 or v8 sti swap. . . If I got a usdm sti harness would it all be plug and play with the motor and ecu? And do you think this swap is a good choice? Any helps appreiciated.. . .

If you mean you are looking to use a USDM STi engine, try not to use the "v7 or v8" etc labels. They will confuse you and people you ask for help.
Personally, if you live anywhere in the US with smog restrictions. Get yourself a USDM motor and wiring harness, swap it in and call it a day.

also consider that your 95 transmission/rear diff won't last long with that sort of power

i have a set of chewed up spider gears from an open diff right here on my monitor

An 02-05 wrx harness will run a version 7 or 8 motor perfectly. You will only need to add a few wires and switch a few pins in various connectors to enable AVCS(as well as a v7 or v8 ECU).

That is all that is needed for the AVCS to function properly.

Using a USDM wrx harness, on a JDM drive by cable sti engine. Not on a USDM STi engine.

Just wanted to clarify again. It's not clear which he is really going after by reading his posts.
