10Barrel Hop Rye It is a really good rye IPA. If you're in to that sort of thing and can source the 10Barrel, try it out.

Bend is beer madness!

Just saw that at the local Fred Meyers. I'll have to snag one up and try it out.

Anyone ever had White Rascal? Picked some up over the weekend at the holy grail of beer stores, Norms market in lake stevens. It's quite good.

But ive been stuck on El Jefe lately

Norms is OK but IPAs are meant to drink fresh not sitting in kegs for a few months before being tapped. They also really dont have a sour selection so I have to go to Lynwood or Seattle to get good sours.

Not a fan of Avery Brewing or wheat beers

Iron Horse has a drinkable american hef though

Maybe Im a bit bias towards Norms cause Ive never really seen a selection like theirs before, plus Mac n Jacks on tap is great.
As for wheat beers, I love em'. Not really a fan of IPAs or sour beers, but there is a select few that I do enjoy on occasion. Some say that makes me less of a man, I beg to differ. If its one thing I know its that I love beer, but refuse to EVER buy crap like bud or miller, cause lets face it, its crap.

It was my introduction to fancy beers. The idea behind buying two cases was to have one to drink each month and a case to age. It will be neat to see how they change over time. I feel like the 2013 has already changed slightly. Its less hippy than when it first came out.

I typically buy things in pairs now. One to drink now and one for later. If I like it well enough I'll buy more. Like the brrrbon, I really like it so bought more in hopes that it will age well.

And yes, yes I do like old guardian. :P

Took a tour of ninkasi on Saturday, pretty nice place. Very clean, I was impressed. And of course, had some of their beer. Then I want to the Beer Stein in Eugene and had an Old Rasputin stout on nitro, so smooth and delicious. Great weekend!

I drank a bottle of Firestone Walker 2013 Sucaba last night, and it was fantastic. Smells and tastes like a spiced rum and coke. I need to pick up another and let it age. Anyone else tried it?

I had to look that up. Ive heard good things. It doesn't seem right to add coffee to an IPA, but I'll have to check it out.

I dont get that from that barley whine but its a great one. I get more of a bourbon oak flavor. Had it on tap and I have 6 right now

Try to get some Firestone Double DBA if you can, its amazing.

Have you tied Fort George Cavatica Double Stout? Its pretty good. Local place by me has had in on tap for a month and its $5 for a pint (in a big goblet). I get quite a bit chocolatey, coffee, some vanilla and boozy taste with this stout but very well balanced not a chocolate stout, very similar to Green Flash Double Stout but not as boozy.

I randomly found a bottle of Double DBA at whole foods the other day. I really want to drink it, but I really want to give it a year. sooo hard to decide what to do. Thankfully its spring and getting warmer this week. I don't know that its somethine I want to drink when its warm out. Probably ok, but i'd rather savor it.

Currently drinking a Class of '88 Barley wine. Its a collaboration between North Coast, Deschutes, and Roge. I would actually find this beer ok to drink, except that it says barley wine on the bottle. While breweries are allowed to experiment and add their own spin to beers. I can't find anything in this beer that says barley wine to me. Well except for the 10.2% ABV.

I tend to agree with a lot of what is already said on beeradvocate:
http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/63/92128

I won't be buying another bottle.

Also had a Pike Brewery Old Bawdy Barley Wine. I prefer it over the Class of '88 for sure. Definitely not as tasty as an Old Guardian. I felt like it was definitely a barley wine. However not a real good one, or a real bad one. I wasn't disappointed, but I wasn't impressed either. I think a little less hoppy would've been nice. Its kind of pricey too. I think I paid $11. I don't feel like it was worth it. at $8, sure, but over that it you could definitely get something better.

Also sitting in the refrigerator is a Stone Russian Imperial and a Hales Ale Imperial Stout. I might migrate the Hales out to storage, but I want to try the Stone so I can see if I need to buy a couple more bottles.

It was my birthday too, on Saturday. Celebrated on Sunday with Joe's crab shack and Birra deli afterwards. Had a sasquatch grand cru and snagged a Growler of hop henge for $10. I also took home a few bottles.one was Base Camp brewing Rye Pils. I am usually not a fan of pilsners, but I was assured that this one was different, we'll see. Good night overall.

My usual beer is Long Hammer when I am home or etc. But at bars or other places, I drink whatever interests me that they have on tap.

Got a growler of Port Brewing Older Viscosity Bourbon Aged Strong Ale @ 12.5%. Strong bourbon nose and flavor with some oak, chocolate, vanilla undertones. Might be one of my favorite bourbon aged beers to date.

Being in the Portland area I've had so many different beers. Current favorites are Almeda Brewing Dusty Trail Pale Ale and Bridgeport Cherry Stout (real WA black cherries and coca) mmmm
