I agree! I had this thought the moment they started to report some drops of rain, so not an after the race thought. I thought McLaren should have been more strict with their decision with Lando getting him onto intermediates, and not even asking him the question. The pit wall can see the radar and know that there was a heavy shower. There were many laps left, and knew how difficult the track would be even with slight damp conditions from the qualification/practice runnings. Gamble on the fact that Mercedes was very likely to pit Hamilton with a 40 second window so that he doesn't DNF the race and lose out on championship points. I don't put that on Lando, I put it on the team unfortunately.

But besides the chaotic rainy finish, what a race! Max's Redbull was a fantastic performer, and should make Mercedes very nervous knowing that a engine penalty will eventually be required for Hamilton. Seeing Sainz, Kimi, and Ricciardo in the strong points was a welcome sight.

The lucky one was Max, he would have been 7th without the rain and would have lost more points even with Hami staying 2nd.

I am loving how Botas isn't doing Ham any favors anymore. Dude took charge today with a convincing win!

Max is now 6 points in the lead and Hamilton is of course going to cry about the entire situation that his pit caused for him with only 6 laps to spare.

Redbull 2nd and 3rd Perez finally back on the podium!.

more or less a boring race, race stewards typical idiots as always, Alonso with a few rookie mistakes.

I cannot understand that an intermediate tire can last a whole race, but a slick canīt.

Wet race not too exciting
Lewis not too happy about strategy..
Leclerc tried to go the distance on same tires. ended up pitting
Ocon did go the distance.

It would have been interesting to see if Lewis could have made it to the end on one set of tires...

Ocon made it, so Lewis would've too. Probably could've finish higher than 5th. Merc's making more bad calls this year.

I was thinking that also, until I began to think about the higher forces and loads that were put into Lewis's rear tires...

I always love the celebrity interviews they have at F1 events, they always ask "who are you watching out there" and get crickets back haha like they only showed up...for the clout mayhaps?

I found it interesting that some "celebrities" like that one in the see through clothing wouldn't stop to be interviewed... I was surprised that Williams wouldn't give Martin the time. She did an interview earlier this year.
Oh well, it was an interesting race.

At the start or soon after - "Valtierri, this is James..." Still gonna root for Perez to pull this one off.

That was funny.

I'll give Tsunoda a pass on this one, though.
I don't know what he was supposed to do to get out of Perez's way. He drove completely off the track as it was.
I think Perez didn't realize that Tsunoda was going to give him so much room and missed his braking point.
Then Max saw all the dust and cars and let off a little bit, screwing his lap.
Even without Tsunoda, I don't think either Perez or Verstappen would have caught Bottas. Hamilton maybe, but not Bottas.

Nice to see that thought about qualifying third was the right plan.

Gee, how come Lewis didn't look too happy...I guess he's seeing what it's like not to be in the fastest car. 4 more races to go... should be a good rest of the season.
