Unless you mean the editing, in which case, yeah, I'm finding myself moving away from the faded blacks and going for more of a heavy contrast cinematic look.

This was a quick "pull on the side of the road, snap a pic, and take off" type of picture, but still turned out pretty good. Wish I would have taken some more time to get a really good shot, but I was holding up some people.

This is with a D5300 + 35mm 1.8.

Right there with you on that ha. IMO the whole faded darks look got kind of carried away (I'm guilty of this in the past).

I'm really liking where your post processing is going!

I think most of us are guilty of that, people are still using it like crazy nowadays.

I always tried to keep it subtle... I wasn't one to add +100 contrast and then drag the black curves slider up halfway... Some people go way too crazy with it.

You can still have a solid portfolio that speaks volumes and have a watermark. I don't watermark photos on my own personal website but for social media it's an excellent way to gain new business.
Never mind, the point is escaping you.

You shouldn't down talk people so much, you come off very arrogant and cocky on here.

The point isn't escaping me at all. I fully understand what you are saying. I'm stating my opinion on watermarks.

i am bored and my daughter is taking a nap so i was messing with it. I would get more contrast, your histogram has a lot of mid tones and not as much darks and lights. So i would get more contrast, then go over the car with abrush and give it a clarity boost and increase the exposure a tad and also bump up the shadow slider somewhat. Also i did a radial filter and made it really big so it would only affect the left side of the screen and almost added a vignette just to that side. This is what i came up with in about 5 min. I think this really helps the picture pop a little better. And its a nice photo if anything maybe a smidge closer and the car following the rule of thirds a bit better, but i like how the sun is peaking out the right side of the shot but no over powering it

its easier if i just show you the results of what i am talking about. Hope you dont mind. This was all in LR as well (not claiming to be an expert, everyone has different styles)
No, Please do show me! It really helps me understand. I'll have to go get lightroom now since it's part of my student account. It was really hard to get some good shots when your lens was already maxed out Lol. Tried my best to get in the rule of third but rolling shots is a bit harder than I thought.

love how the clarity came back in the picture. Glad to be apart of this thread.

What's your problem, dude? No ones opinion matters but your own?

Ya know, for the owner of a company.. You are really giving yourself a bad name. Being a pompous prick to everyone who has a differing opinion is exactly the opposite of what you should be.

I'm not trying to be a prick, it's just so easy under the circumstances. I'm trying to help you guys, but maybe my message is lost in the delivery. Here, let me try a little harder...

I recommend that you always watermark your pix discreetly, and never post them larger than 1280 wide. This serves two functions; to let people know who you are, and to keep the fleabay guys from ripping you off. BUT, if you know your work is sub-par, skip the watermark, learn your craft, and add the watermark when you get some respectable skill. That way, 5 years from now when people are looking back at your work, they won't find the crap .

Is that better?

And for the record, if you can't tell by my photography that I know a little bit about this subject, then good luck picking a font for your watermark.

Now, less typing and more photography.

Just so easy to be a prick? You're doing a damn good job. Just because you know how to use a camera and some photoshop doesn't entitle you to be such a d-bag. Even the people that mostly agree with you on the watermark argument still think you're a dick.
