Haha. No worries. I was just giving you crap. You totally set yourself up for that one.

Ok, so....any more Di-Noc pics in here, ppl? I dig the idea of doing little bits of trim with it. Not enough to make much of a difference, but to give it some flare and contrast.

I put some "CF" accents on my steering wheel a little while back, only about a month or so. got the 4x8 sample piece from carbon fiber film and it was just big enough to do both pieces and the back of my cell phone.

I might get some more and do some more interior trim pieces, but i have yet to find a good place in Canada to get some.

Sorry for the phone pic, also it was night time when i finished it.

Nice work on the steering wheel. I'm a big fan of the look as well, no matter what others think.

It seems pretty rediculous to pay a ton of money for real CF parts if you're not shaving a lot of weight by doing so, and even if you do reduce the weight of the car will you really notice it unless you're concerned about tenths of a second at the track? I doubt it... I have a few pieces that I'd like to do in 3M CF vinyl if I can get my hands on some, and its just a way to set my subie apart from yours, nothing more.

ive been thinking about doing the same pieces on the steering wheel. did you have to take off the airbag to accomplish this?

Yeah, the whole thing has to be taken apart. It really seems like a hassle before you think about what has to be done, but if you have your tools ready and a guide to help you along, it only takes half an hour from gray to "CF" good-ness

I found a good guide on IWSTI for installing a Momo wheel i think it was. It gives you instructions on how to take the stock 08+ one off in great detail with pictures. and installation is a breeze once you've taken it apart once.

However i don't recommend doing this at night if you don't have a garage. I thought to myself ill just put the dome light on so i can see what I'm doing. Then when i got in the car, i had no power because i had disconnected it. Ended up doing the whole thing with a flashlight in my mouth.

I recommend not unscrewing the nut off the steering column all the way though so when you manage to crack the wheel off the column you don't hit yourself in the face with it.

I like it but would prefer if it was a gloss finish.
Has anyone used a clearcoat over the 3m carbon, how does that look.

Hardhat I made for work a while ago. Painted it and cut out the numbers and name by hand
We're not supposed to have non-work related stuff on the hat but I managed to slip in the FL4T... Most people don't get it but i get more look for the CF on my hat that most cars, no one else has it that I've seen

Subscribed for this. I hate the chrome. Put an SPT trunk trim on 2 days after I bought the car.
I'd have a shop paint them for me but I dont know if I wanna deal with that. I wanna see more pics

Ah ok nice. How was it to apply? Was it easy to shape and mold around or was it hard as in like hard to smooth out.

IT was easy, just take your time. Your fingers will hurt afterwards because that bisch is sticky! The corners turned out ok, but I'm sure a veteran of that stuff could've done a better job that I did. I had a couple of crappy corners that I would just trim with a razor blade and sharpie in... Nobody ever noticed.

When I see people do 90 degree angles with no wrinkles.. I have no idea how they did it. It amazes me, I had to cut a relief and fold it over and trim the excess.

I did a 2ft x 2ft, I did my hole interior wood trim and I still have enough to do my trunk trim on my STi. That was 5 long strips about 2-3 inches wide and about 18" long.

Now that I watched a youtube video of installing this stuff. I would have a friend help you, it looks like you can do a better job if you have help.
