Question nominees for the worst poseur "performance" car of all time

just interested to see what others consider to be the posin'est cars on the road.

my vote has to be cast for V6 mustangs. every one i see has some backwards hat wearing jackass leaned back into the back seat, with the newest lame cash money/murder inc/etc. record blaring, with those lovely 'stang altezzas and cobra badges, clumsily weaving and wallowing through traffic, on the verge of becoming an insurance statistic.

the rules: you can name any car you wish, but it must come in prime posing form FROM the factory. typical aftermarket add-on items like the ones mentioned above can add to the umm, "allure" or lack thereof, but the car itself must be a prime example of all that proclaims "heylookitmeeee!" in stock form. lame factory add-ons that may increase the pose-factor™ ARE allowed, and should be noted for the general amusement of all.

let the nominations begin!

I always thought the Hyundai Tiburon looked kinda mean, and it even has dual exhaust now.... but we all know its a gutless wonder with a near non-existant aftermarket for performance parts.....

The other one was the Ford taurus SHO..... the name emblazoned on the rear bumper.... looks like a feeble attempt at making the grandparent's car "sporty"

I saw a shopping cart wing on a bright yellow SHO one time, I almost soiled myself

the V6 tiburon is a very good car, performs very well as well, and the aftermarket parts market is growing... nice try tho

The tiburon performs well? Do you have some numbers?

And since when is a SHO a performance vehicle?

Uhhh, but the SHO is no slouch from the factory. With a tuned motor built by Yamaha, it put out similar HP/torque as a stock WRX. It also ran high 14's, low 15's in the 1/4 mile.

Like the WRX, it was a grocery getter with some descent pep under the hood. A nice sleeper.

I'm gonna go with the 4 cyl n/a lasers and talons. The turbo cars were badass, but the base models were just lame. Also maybe the weak versions of the stealth and 3000GT.

Re: Taurus SHO- not your granny's car. Yamaha designed alum. V6 with a 5 speed. Fantastic drivetrain, so-so chassis. I care not at all for Furds, but that car was nasty in it's day.

poohbaru: My buddy used to own a 3000GT SL. That was the mid-range model, not the 320 hp VR4 or the 160 hp base, but the 222 hp NA V6.

It was actually pretty damn sporty and quite fast on the highway. He won several autoxs in it. Plus it looked dead secksy.

Well, the Lancers/Mirage are basically econoboxes, so I don't think they are "poseur".

How about the Celica of the mid-80's to mid-90's. [Except for the Turbo GT-4s.] FWD, 2.2L from the base Camry. That's pretty sad.

Yeah, Rogue, I was after the 160 hp ones, but couldn't remember the figures. I got to drive a VR4 w/ 4 wheel steering once and it was all , but the base models were sort of hairy chest-gold medallion fare.
