Default Lock/Unlock Hazard Flash

just this evening, when I tried unlocking my car from about 20 yards away, I heard the car chrip twice and saw the interior lights turn on, however the hazards did not flash twice as they usually do. I tried locking it, and to the same result;I heard the chirp, but saw no flash. I got in the car, turned it on, tried the hazards: They worked. I then tried using the turn signals: They worked too. So I drove home, parked it in the garage, and tested it again to recieve the same results. I then tried turning the chirp on/off but pressing the unlock button on the remote, and then holding the lock and unlock buttons down together for 2 seconds. I tried locking and unlocking, and it did as it should have (It just unlocked, no flashes, no sound) I then tried setting the remote back to the standard Chirp/Flash on setting, but when I did it, I was back to where I started; chirp still sounded, but no flashing lights. Whats wrong?! Its only a month and a half old!

Thanks in advance.

CN: -Hazards dont flash when car locked/unlocked via remote
-Hazards work
-Turn signals work
-Remote works
-Disabling/Enabling chrip/flash via remote did nothing
-I'm upset.

Valet mode? Open your driver door and hold a button(sry forget which one, not too many to choose from though) down for two seconds.

First of all it's not the hazards/turn signals that flash (assuming the factory alarm), it's the parking lights.
Second, be sure you didn't accidentally put the alarm in valet mode. If you did the security light on the dash will be constantly blinking in a "blink-blink-stop-blink-blink" pattern. To clear valet mode, open the drivers door and hold down the unlock button on the remote for several seconds.

Mulder, thank you so much! That worked perfectly. Phew, now I can sleep easy! (anything wrong with my Sube gets me all flustered). Anyway, what is the purpose of this valet mode?

PS: The quick responses were awsome!! 3 Replies in 5 minutes!

you know what a valet is right? In case you don't it the girl/guy that takes your car and parks it for you when you go somewhere nice. I imagine you put it in valet mode for that. But i could be wrong cause i normally am

It's actually pretty worthless unless you have the passive arming function of the alarm enabled. In that case engaging valet mode would prevent the alarm from arming if you left the car with a valet or shop and didn't give them the remote. With active (via the remote) arming only, it doesn't make much difference.
