Is the audio quality still crappy on the base model like the 15-18s?!

Keep me in the loop. Curious to here what your dealer says. SOA will probably have the dealer respray the barrels. No thanks.

My head unit has a terrible rattle in it.

I tested audio on a base 19 and it sounds like the 18.

I've heard back from them and they said something along the line of "This is normal, the wheels are painted in multiple steps and the barrels are actually painted but not in the same colour as the face of the wheels. Subaru does this because it's not a highly visible area."

I initially thought they've missed painting the barrels altogether. I guess I don't mind it too much that there is overspray on the barrels...

Just a reminder for guys who currently own a Subaru and are buying another Subaru. Call 1-800-782-2783 and ask SoA for a loyalty coupon. I just did and they are sending me a coupon worth $750! You just give them the last 8 numbers of your current VIN and confirm you address, phone number, and email. It ain't much but it's a set of snow tires, thanks Subaru.

Hello I made an account just to ask this question. How would I go about placing an order for the Series Gray STI version? Ive read they will be coming out in the fall in the U.S. and was not able to find information on how to place an order for this Special Edition version of the 19' STI as I understand they are a limited production. If anyone has info or personal experience this year placing an order for this color version of the STI Id love to know. Thank you

Never ordered a special edition, so this is just a guess, but you will probably need to ask around at a number of dealerships near you and ask if they know whether they are getting a series.grey STI. If they are, ask if there is a waiting list or if it has been reserved, and if not, ask if you can reserve it for yourself.

you're not going to be able to order one. your best bet is to go to one or more high volume dealers and put dibs on an anticipated allocation. they'll probably want a deposit, refundable only if they do not get allocated one. I'm going to guess most will be sold with a dealer markup above sticker price. negotiate your purchase price at the time you leave the deposit.

Really curious to hear your thoughts on the difference too. To me, my 16 year-old RSX still had a better sound system and shifted WAY better than the STI, but of course the STI beats it in every performance aspect and has a cool sportier interior IMO.
If I can join the chat on this, I went from a TSX 2007 to an STI 2019. I agree with the shifting, smooth as butter. It had the stock premium sound system which was great. That VTEC that kicked in (yo) and the whine it made for half a second made me smile each time I floored it. I really thought I couldn't find a better car until I tried the STI. Blew my mind. The rumble when I start the engine makes me giddy, the turbo brings the car alive, and the handling is like nothing else I ever drove. Yeah, it's not perfect, but I'm definitely happy with the upgrade.

^ What these guys said. You have to ask dealers if they can get one for you. One guy where I live asked a couple spots and was able to reserve the one that his local store is getting. They will probably require a decent deposit up front too.

Quick question about the new series.grey. How are you guys saying series.grey? Do you call it “series dot grey” or do you say “series” pause “grey“?

Cheap ass Subaru at it again. I knew you'd get the run around. I'll fix the damn wheels myself. I'm so tired of manufacturers cutting corners like this. We work hard for my money and this is what we get. Sigh..

Series gray. Two words. No period. They're nothing more than marketing hype to separate you from your money. If you like the color go for it but realize there will be a dealer markup due to extreme limited availability.

Thank you for the feedback. Around what price or % can I expect to pay for a deposit down for the series gray STI? I'm planning on purchasing the car in Oregon if possible for tax reasons.

In my state at least, no matter where I buy the car I have to pay sales tax in the state that I register it in. Not sure if you mean something else or if your state works differently, but you may want to look into it. As for what you'd pay? I have no clue... but the Type RA retailed for ~49k and I think most dealerships were charging at least 52k for them.

There are half as many series.grays so you would think the dealership would want even more for them, but the series gray has also not been marketed as a track ready beast like the RA was, so they may not feel like it's worth a sizable markup... I would think you could find one for 45k for the first few months before slowly dropping down to 42-43k. Obviously negotiate with the dealer and try to get below MSRP but in such short supply, don't get your hopes up.

The dealers that wanted a mark up for the Type RA are now listing them at MSRP with no takers. Plenty new ones on autotrader. One dealer in my area discounted a black RA by 1k and still no takers for a over a month. I see they finally sold it though. There is a huge inventory of 2018 STi with no takers even though they are being offered way below invoice with 0% interest from subaru financing. The people buying these cars know a new generation is coming and this is an old platform.

If someone wants the series grey I would suggest not paying a penny over MSRP. Even MSRP is silly. The color is purely intrinsic and wont bring in any more value to the car in the used market. On a trade in the dealer wont care. Maybe private party sale it might help a bit. I also wanted a series grey but when dealers around my area said it would be MSRP then forget it.

Can confirms this works. Just called and they are sending me a $500 coupon. Didn't even need my VIN. Just wanted my address and the dealership that I mainly work with.

Only 500? I thought that's what the coupon was to. Then the SoA guy asked what car I was buying. I said STI. He said the STI is a premium vehicle and calls for the greater 750 discount. I wonder if telling them that info gets you more?

Hi MtnXfreeride,

I wonder if your Perrin Shifter stop is the PSP-INR-019 (and not the PSP-INR-018 for 2015-2017)
I installed my PSP-INR-018 coming from my former 2016WRX and it didn't do the job. The "R" lever lifted when I put gear 1 or 2. Very annoying. Made the shifter stop completely useless.
I ordered the PSP-INR-019 (2018+), put it yesterday and now it works as it's supposed to

I also ordered PSP-INR-016 PERRIN Brass Shifter Bushing. Not installed yet. Maybe in a few weeks.
Did you install yours?

Just picked up my STI yesterday and loving it! Original order date was 6/24, original ETA was last week of August. Car actually arrived to dealer on 8/14. Best of luck to the rest of you who are still waiting.

On a side note, I picked up the 6yr/60,000 mile extended gold warranty for $920, I have 90 days to cancel for a full refund, just wondering if it is worth it or not. Not really planning on modding the car aside from some aesthetic stuff.

Did you pick up the series gray version or one of the standard colors? Also, I am wondering when I place an order with a dealership would I be given the option to customize which packages I want to the car? I would like to order the series gray without a wing on the back as Im planning on throwing on the dry fiber sti wing from the Type RA to give it that S208 look. Is this possible or will I be stuck with having the standard wing addon that the STI normally comes with?

You can't order the series gray. You can only reserve one from existing dealer allocation as is. The wing will come standard and you won't be able to choose any package options.

Just found this thread so figured it'd be a good spot for my first post. Ordered my 2019 Limited in DGM with the technology package, homelink mirror and sti short throw. I ordered it about a month ago and looks like I'm still slated for November delivery 🙁

I'm curious about the loyalty coupon. My live in girlfriend just bought a 2018 Crosstrek a couple months ago, would I be eligible for the coupon? Can that be used in addition to the ambassador coupon?

No issues with my perrin shift stop so im assuming its the right one.

Installed shifter bushing today.. really not a big deal.. used ramps and had enough space. Removing the old bushing is the only pain.. instructions say to stick a screwdriver in and twist.. but really you need to stick it in and move up and down to wedge it out.

Shifter bushing before and after... didn't really notice. Maybe crisper feel?..but for the price.. and if you are comfortable getting your car up enough to get under Id say go for it.. do it during that first oil change. My stock rubber bushing had 600 miles on it.. its probably more noticible against a 2015+ WRX with 50000 miles of shifts.

Shift stop made much more of a difference in feel. I do have the STI short throw though if that matters.

No you cannot double coupon a loyalty and ambassador coupon. Some people have gotten it by dealerships but in that case the dealership probably takes the hit.
