Question My Army battles, who's gone Airborne?

Thinking of going to Airborne school, and just wanted to hear about your experiences. Who's got their jump wings, sound off you maroon berets!

It's not hard doing your jumps from normal, just a little more gear weight on the landing

As a pilot, I don't know why you'd want to leave it behind either...
It's an extra skill, it builds character, and it'll push me to further my physcial limits.

5 years airborne infantry here. airborne school is a cake walk. If you can get the balls to go out on the first time.
Um yeah lets see..first whats your mos? that will mandate how much trouble youll be infor later. as well as where your based.

ok lets see. youll start out by getting up hella early for pt. which is an assload of shuffling"airborne shuffle" very slow paced if you have shin splints it will kill your legs.

Youll be strapped into a swing machine haha which will swing you into the ground to teach you how to land without breaking your legs. Youll jump from the 30ft tower so you can see what its like to taste your balls when you drop 10ft and bounce on the end of a rope.

blahblah blah

then youll make 5 jumps from about 1400ft. Its fun will scare the **** out of you and youll get one hell of an adrenilin rush.

ok now the later you have to make a certain amount of jumps to keep your airborne status. I fyour at ft.bragg Where im at..and say infantry..Then youll be jumping so much youll hate it. because youll jump with 100-150 lbs of gear, weapons, rammo, food, water, and whatnot. if your a cook or something support. then youll just jump to get the extra 150 a month.

so if you have balls go for it..if your infantry do it then ranger school= instant e5 have fun i liked it..

oh you will get hurt..but if you drink water and take a knee aceout haha youll be fine if you want to know more specifics pm me.

Because if a C-130 isn't leaking hydraulic oil, there's something wrong with it.

Says the guy who claims jump wings + ranger tab = instant E-5, yet left the service an E-4?

Do a lot of people refuse to jump when they go up for their first time? I did a civilian jump years ago and never considered backing out.

If you didnt want to jump you wouldnt go because it is volunteer. But 1st time out some people will not want to go....Lets just say they end up going out.
You will get in trouble if you refuse to jump.

Also freefall is another story. You were strapped up to someone and paid alot of money to go. But if you would have refused he probably would have gone.
But there is a difference between when you go out on your own and when you are strapped to someone with more than 500 jumps and more certs for an instructor or coach

You're gonna laugh Robbies, but I'm a 74D, nowhere near 11B However, at least I did BCT at Ft. Knox. Yeah, take a knee and drink water...if I had a nickel for every time I heard that... Sounds like good times though.

hey a job is a job. chemical specialists have very important jobs. every infantry company has a chemical specialist ussually 2. Good guys.

any way if you do drop an airborne packet are you going to transfer to campbell or ft bragg? I was at ft benning for a year basic ait then airborne school and all the time between. was actually engaged the base commanders daughter i met her after coming to pick up a friend of mine...he got drunk found the biggest greenest lawn and passedout infront of it. haha

Youll have alot of fun. Go for it.. or reclass to infantry and be a ranger haha thats fun too. and alot more time in georgia haha

I'm not active duty, I'm reserve. And yeah I know every unit has at least one NBC NCO, but I'm in an all chemical unit out here at March ARB. So we're all 74Ds...but none of them are airborne. A buddy I went to BCT and AIT with is going soon, and another dude that I went to AIT with just got his wings. I will eventually reclass, but as a WO, and fly helos.

I will be a warrant officer, oh yes. Yeah, I know how it goes. Stuff is a pain in the butt. It's been bad enough getting my promotion to E-4. But I drive on..

i still had no idea what you guys were talking about..
but liked that pic so much, thought i'd google 74D chemical specialist.

so.. if you went airborne, they'd drop you out the sky first to make sure it's safe for the other guys.. in all that gear?

You got it! See? Yeap, they could technically drop me out of the sky. But my gear is a HMMWV with a shelter on the back that does biological agent detection. Although I'm in a chemical company, our specialty is bio, so I have further qualification in that.

don't know if you're allowed to say.. but on your deployments,
what have you detected?

and i think you're insane to jump out of a plane, with all that gear on.
my main concern being.. a tear or rip or something during landing?
