Default who's gone from no avcs to avcs?

I've read someone's thread awhile ago about going from no AVCS in their swap to having it. Besides your butt dyno telling you it's so much better does anyone have any dyno plots showing this? I just want to make sure before I tear my car apart again to rewire the mother...I'd like to SEE that I'ts actually worth it. I know that everyone has an opinion, and usually guys who have never driven a swapped car will post BS like AVCS FTW or whatever. I really just want to see the proof.

yeah.. twinscroll avcs works well.. but really if you have an engine with the solenoids you should defiantly run it.. you could wire it up in an hour or two..

I'm not an idiot, this is someting that I have been searching. Hydra, rewiring the whole car and possible selling the USDM AVCS heads to buy JDM heads and run a JDM ecu. If you're going to sit here and say there's a 1 to 2 hour process to get the AVCS running then tell me. If it was that simple everyone witht a swap would run it.

WRX wiring to JDM ECU -> to get AVCS to work you have to add 9 wires (8 really, the shielding one is optional); they run direct from ECU pins to destination (solenoid or sensor)
simple, 1-2 hours
if you need diagram, pm me your email I will send you the schematics

I'm running the U.S. Legacy GT engine. I understand the way the tactrix cable works, somewhat. What I don't understand is if it's that easy for me to add vvt maps to my current set up why don't tuners do it?

AFAIK if your ECU is not AVCS capable you just can't flash it with AVCS maps to the current ECU, or I would have done that long ago.

so you have a Legacy GT motor...so usdm avcs?...well, JDM avcs has a different sensor lay out...one is two sensor and the other three...one magnetic and the other hall effect...can't remember which is which...Andrew can make you a custom hydra to run it and then you have run 8 or so wires...or by jdm heads and ecu and plug it up then run the 8 or so wires needed.

right on the spot
I was under impression that you had JDM engine, hence I doubt my diagrams would be any help

From what I've been told magnetic is used up to the ver.7 sti, and Hall afterward. So really that's not the problem. I know I would have to run newer JDM heads with a newer ecu, and I don't feel like forking out 1600 dollars right not for a stand alone. I guess I'll just bite the bullet on this one and wire the car eventually. Thanks guys.

I'm running an 02 ecu and left my AVCS disconnected due to the hall effect sensor issue ($$).

From my understanding, avcs or not, you'll reach the same peak hp. It's across the powerband wher the avcs in most beneficial.

That is correct. AVCS mapping will almost always go to 0 advance at the top of the RPM range to make the most power. AVCS affects the overlap in earlier RPMs to help build boost and make power sooner.
