There are two entry level IT positions available with Camden City School District. It's a great opportunity to get into IT or continue your career while getting onto the state benefits program.

Default Tri-State employment thread- Post here jobs and resumes...

New Jersey guys,

Pay attention to the New Jersey Civil Service Commission web site for exam announcements for professional firefighters in the state. I'm a firefighter up in Bloomfield and there should be a new test soon because the current hiring list has been extended; probably at least a test announcement within the year. It's a long process but well worth the wait. The police test I believe has already passed but it's the same process to take test if you want to take that one too. I took both.

---Tips and pointers--

-if you live in the sticks where volunteer fire departments rule, it's tougher to get on a paid department. In that case you need to see if any of the bigger cities near you in your county pull from a county wide list or only city residents. Sadly you got to to research that aspect. You may need to move to that city or at least get a residency there and make it look like you live there. If you live in urbanized areas where professional paid firefighters rule the land, you are set especially in Hudson, Essex, Union, Passaic and Bergen counties because many cities from those counties hire out of many counties rather than just it's county or only residents of its city so the chance of getting on increases but you are competing against more people. (That area of counties is the highest/largest concentration of professional fire fighters over a certain area in the entire world)

--Veterans and current state workers--

For you vets, both police and fire exams offer "veterans preference", which means you are preferred on hiring lists and ranked over non veterans on the hiring list. Disabled veterans are ranked first, then veterans, then non veterans. In layman's terms, if a disabled vet scores a 70, a veteran scores an 80 and a non vet scores 100 on test, The disabled vet is still ranked first, then the vet then non vet.
Being an EMT or volunteer firefighter gives you extra points on test but not preference.

For all you current state workers, Cops, Teachers, DPW, etc. your pension does carry over but not necessarily pay.

I'm trying to help you guys out, I know a new test is coming and it's kind of an obscure process is figure I'd shed some light on. It's a pain in the ass process but doable if you ask questions. Check the website and you're welcome to PM me for anything.
Be aware it's a competitive test so this job isn't guaranteed but it's well worth the try. The age cut off is 35 but prior state work and military service cut that age off. For instance, if you served 5 years in military you could be 40 and get hired. You can also buy back military time to retire earlier.
Brian

No leads but try using LinkedIn. Has a great job search feature and it's great for networking. If you can't find full time work you can possibly meet the right person(s) for a freelance/part time gig. I used it throwing out my resume and landed a few interviews but luckily already got hired on Fire Dept. And didn't have to go. I still use it for my side job in the film industry. Try it out if you haven't yet. Good luck!

If anyone is interested in learining or progressing in Muay Thai (Thai boxing) you can send me an email. I usually train a few clients at a gym in Broooklyn, it's a brand new 18000 square foot facility and is nothing like the old dungeons of a boxing gym. I do a lot of one on one training with all levels and if you're willing to advance I can also provide sparring partners. Either way I am also mobile, I can come to your gym and we can do some sessions there if you would be more comfortable that way.
About myself, I have been training since early 2006 and have spent 3 years living and training in Thailand. I know how to work with anyone and I can get you to reach your goal wether it's just to get in a shredded fighter shape or try to progress into some active competition. It's all up to you, I am very understanding and I will get a feel for you after the first session on how you are and what your abilities consist of. I don't pressure anyone into anything that may go against their desire but you can bet your house you will see results and feel amazing. I guarantee it. I shall provide all of the gear so there is no need to go and drop 100's of dolllars on fight gear just to find out this might not be what you were looking for. Anyways I can keep on typing about this until next wednesday but like with any physical activity you need to experience it before you would know if this is for you. All of the bull**** aside this beats any gym routine that you may have been doing. I promise you that.
Drop me a line at [email protected] and we'll go from there.

I'm a recruiter with a LI based telecommunications company. We are actively seeking outside, door to door salespeople within the LI, Bronx and CT areas. The position requires a drivers license, vehicle and at least 3 years of sales experience (or 60 college credits.)

I'll admit, sales, especially outside, is a tough career albeit lucrative. If you're comfortable going into customer's homes and driven to earn, this may be it for you. Why? Average, and I mean average performers typically earn 60-80k per year while top performers earn WELL beyond 200k. The position includes a base salary, full benefits, 401k etc.

If you're interested, PM me and I will share my e-mail address.

LMK!
