No. depending on the type of intercooler we do it differently. It can also go in the intake manifold.

no I don't. Sorry.

You put it wherever it fits based on the setup. there is room down by the PCV inlet under the throttle body in some configurations.

Thing that sucks is i just had Dom at Maxwell power put in some Ablins gears. Can't say i've really got to enjoy the gears yet.

on the EJ207 there is a spot for the sensor just below the throttle body next to the PCV valve bung.

I find that it would be usefull to have a thread dedicated to users of hybrid motors, instead of having to have multiple threads bookmarked to find the information you want (with the exception to stikys) Also any other things that did occur in the future, like tuning issues or oil consumption (I know there are a few threads on consumption).

Mileage since installed: +40,000 /4 years
Type Engine and Internals: JE Pistons 8.5:1 Compression, Eagle H beam Rods, Stock head bolts, ACL Race Bearings
Valve-train: Crower 272/272 cams, Ferrea Valvesprings and retainers, Ferrea Valves, ported 2.0 heads. (No port matching)
Head Gasket Choice: Cometic .027 head gaskets.

Current Status: Has made over 500whp on race gas for the past couple years, currently on a 600whp tune up. Have had no problems what-so-ever with tuning. It takes timing just fine, and with good gas it lives great. Going to continue to push it until something finally fails.

Follow this format so it is clear to read.

*Please forgive me if there is already a thread covering this.

This is for a 2002 WRX:

Mileage since installed: 55,000
Type Engine and Internals: EJ257 w/ Stock Internals
Valve-train: Stock 2.0L heads, STi Cams
Head Gasket Choice: Stock STi
Tune: Tuned by Engine Logic's in Houston - 226Hp/258tq

I had the engine built at a friend's garage, then tuned at Engine Logic's.
The engine has been reliable, no problems so far.

Tune: Tuned by Ryan @ Area 1320

I'm running a Vf30 as of now and it pulls like a bat out of hell. I'm very much satisfied with my choice of a hybrid build rather then a fully built 2.0. The torque is there when wanted and plenty of it

It hasn't went through a drip of oil since the install, no CEL or any such issue. Still lower mileage but i can't see any flaws to happen in the future!!! Any issues in the process of stacking on mileage I'll be sure to post, but like i said so far it feels bulletproof.

Eventually I'll be installing a Dom 2.5 xt-r on a relatively "soft" tune to achieve an even funner subaru! Also at this time I'll be dropping some BC 272s in.

9.6:1 would be great if you're going to be running e85, otherwise it might be a little high. You won't be able to run as much boost before it starts knocking on 93. It can be safe, that's all in the tune, but you might not be able to make as much power on pump gas.

i had almost 100k on my stock sti pistons with zero cracked ringlands when i took my engine apart due to other problems. i was putting down 268 whp on a dyno dynamics tuned at hpt since they are the closest all wheel dyno, ran that tune for years with zero issues what so ever.

i even ran two full bad tanks of gas through it and could hear it deto but stayed out of boost.

i thought deto was the main cause of ringland failures which would mean bad gas or a bad tune.

Hey!

Yeah, its me. Been a long time as my hybrid has been out of commission for a little over a year. Started browsing the forums a little more using my lessons learned in the past. Seeing if there has been any new revelations. Looks like there has with the combustion chamber thingy.

Starting to browse around for a plan of attack.

Little side note, the tranny had somewhat fresh gear oil when i stopped driving it. Anything i should do maintenance wise. Hasnt been started in over a year.

2002 WRX current mileage 110,00

33,000 miles over 3.5 years
Stock STI short block
Stock 2.0L heads, cleaned and valve job prior to install
OEM STI head gaskets

Status: Running Strong. Jorge tuned 264 WHP, 294 WTQ at 17.5 psi on a VF43 with supporting mods

I'm looking to add a couple parts and get a retune in the near future. The IAT relocation mod, is it only beneficial if you're running a front mount?

Ok so im thinking of taking this "hybrid route". From what i have learned, stock STi bottom end with ported 2.0 heads, ARP head bolts, stock STi gaskets, bigger turbo and you should be safe? Im new to the F/I side of Subaru so im learning all this any help is appreciated!

Find a good local tuner.

I would recommend CNC headwork to match the EJ257 short block. Rebuild the heads for longer life.

Look into larger turbos recommended by your tuner. Larger fuel pump, injectors, and intercooler are another good step.

E85 shows some great results if it is available locally.
