I don't hear the sound at the same RPM in lower gears...

On the topic however
I haven't gone past 125 -> Was running out of road
Maybe your wife A little duct tape can fix that though.

I may go back on my above statements in order to evaluate my new stage 2 set up. I would like to see what it tops out at, but I ain't doing it till I am at the track or in the desert.

But in any case, I ain't no wuss, punko.

If I'm not mistaken Cobb stage 1 moved the speed limiter for the STi from 153 to 310 MPH. I'm not likely to hit that any time soon. However, I have hit 120+ in traffic on the main straight at Pacific Raceways. Coming out of turn 9 onto the main straight from 100 to 110 MHP my car makes a kinda whom whom whom whom noise that gets faster as you accelerate. I assumed it was the aerodynamics of the mirrors/wing that made that noise...

Great fun!!!

dang, 'tween my front lip and lack of wing, I think I should keep her at a max of 120 (on the track).

That's odd. I just did a quick search and found that both wagon and seadn were .33 ?

As is the STI: .33

That's from FHI by the way (the STI's cd).

Anyone have an idea why it would increase the top speed? If the purpose of a wing is to add downforce wouldn't it go slower?

I hope your not always this stupid and irate. You could have just said it offers more downforce over drag. Downforce is still going slow you down anyway...

the wing helps increase the top aero limited speed... and dont confuse ignorance with bluntness...

again, learn to read...

A recent email from Pete Croney about the wing (while running the autobahn without speed limits):
"Just back from Catalunya...

We got our cars up to 160mph on the way back and the spoilers were deflected down by approx 1.5". That's serious amounts of load.

Another car with us had a genuine WRC spoiler and whilst he has more power (288 bhp vs our 260bhp) he could only manage 150mph. The only reason can be the low drag figures from our spoiler."

The rear wings are made from Fiberglass and Carbon Fiber, and mount in the factory trunk lid holes. Designed with the help of GT series aerodynamic experts and Ford's WRC spoiler manufacturer, ScoobySport's aim was to create the best WRX spoiler available. The final product is a true carbon fibre inverted aerofoil positioned in the optimum position to negate the vehicles natural lift.

The wing is a true inverted airfoil providing actual down force and a cleaner flow of the air passing over the rear of the car, thus helping reduce drag. Making the wing section from Carbon Fiber means that it will not wobble and bounce in the air or as the car drives over bad surfaces. The brake light from your factory spoiler mounts in our spoiler, or a blanking plate is available. Spoilers are ready for painting.

I read that but it would have been impossible for me to have read that before you linked it unless I stumbled across it. It just so happens that the spoiler offers enough downforce to offset its drag...the car would still go faster without the spoiler's added downforce but it would be far safer with it. Next time don't be such a jerk when you're linking it for the first time in a thread. *sigh*

that wing has been out since before we got the WRX... i have posted many times about my wing and why its better and more orignal than the sti wing... no one seems to care if its not JDM or STI...sorry to come off as an ass, but i just assumed everyone has heard of that wing...how many wings do we have specifically made for our cars??anyways yeah i hit 162, the other car in the test only hit 150....

All I know is that I don't dare to over 125 in my 03 WRX. I get that at top end of 4th gear. But I know it is alot of fun doing 110 in a 1/8 of a mile. Now I just want to take that car to the 1/4 and see if it will top 150(this is done in my dads prostreet car...proper safety equipment and everything) Thats the only time I feel safe driving at anything over 110. Though I have to admit it is a heck of alot of fun.

Shin, I got the info from an '05 sales brochure, and I may have confused it a little, it reads...

Sedans: .33
Sport Wagons: .34 (WRX & Outback Sport: .37)

A 93 750 will not hit 180...you'd be lucky to get 160. A NEW GSXR 750 with More HP and 100 (yes 100) pounds less weight (not like that matters for top speed) barely clears 170 (171 or 172 depending on the source). But then again, they're all scary fast.

two questoins what's the top speed of 06 wrx after you take off the limiter? and the top speed of 06 wrx after you take off the limiter plus stage 2

actually one more question..after you reflash it...reflashing takes of the top speed limiter right?
