ok i need to clear this up for me, sorry im a nub.
if the turbo spools up during acceleration and then when you release the gas pedal and close the throttle the turbo should still be spinning, de-accelerating but still spinning. so air is still being forced into the intake, building pressure. what if your blow off was venting the same amount of air (into the atmosphere) as the turbo is pushing into the intake? wouldnt that not alter the PSI rating what so ever in the intake? plus when you let off the gas pedal, it doesnt not matter what the MAF sensor is reading because its not going to be injecting any fuel into the pistons anyways?

If you had no bpv or bov, when the throttle plate closed the air pressure would hit it, create a shockwave that would slam pressure back into the compressor blades in the turbo. SO you lift off the gas, the throttle plate closes, and INSTANTLY there is vacuum in the manifold (because all the boost pressure in it has been eaten up by the motor, and what the turbo is still making is in the pre throttle intake tract) and that vacuum sucks the valve open. The valve is on the pre throttle side of the intake tract, so that boost pressure gets vented out before it slaps back into the compressor blades. |

so are you saying that if it vented out (into the atmosphere) jsut enough to stop the shockwave then the engine would never run rich? why would they make an atmospheric BOV if they always make you lose power and waste gas?

They make and sell a metric ton of throttle body spacers for fuel injected vehicles that do not one bit of good at all. Why? Because they can. |

What about Hybrid BOV's are those better than the stock BPV or does it not do anything either?

what's the difference between the hybrid and the rest of the BOV? I dont see any unless your making alot of boost and yet the air need's to be recirculate not vented

Hybrids are discussed in the main post folks. They suck just like regular BOVs. If you want noise part of the time, get one.

Rich Fuel
With the BPV's re-using the air, is the fuel still as rich as using the BOV's?

There should be a letter that all new members have to read before they get a log in name that states, "THE SEARCH BUTTON IS THERE FOR A REASON"
