Default Element Tuning's FRS/BRZ on 18x10 track and 18x9.5 street

We've already taking this baby to track and what I can I say but impressed! Here's a start with some wheels and how they fit.

These are Rota T2R in 18x9.5 ET38 (front requires 5mm spacer) on 225/45-18. Love the look!

Ridiculousness!

Rota DPT 18x10 ET35 (5mm spacer required on front) with 285 slicks. No they don't really fit but they got me some sick lap times at NJ Motorsports Thunderbolt.

Thanks,
Phil Grabow

Baah, do they rub? If not they fit perfect for track tires

Besides thats why we invented fender flares (hint, hint/ nudge, nudge)

Btw, how far do the 285s stick out? I can't really tell from the pic

The car is in Maryland so yes you likely saw me as i don't think there are many like this yet.

The street setup does not rub with oem suspension.

The race setup rubbed a touch here and there but maybe it would be worse if the tires were new. Could not turn lock to lock without rubbing but on the track it was fine. I bet if a lower profile was used it wouldn't rub but these have a 645 mm diameter.

Could you not fit anything wider than those stretched 225s for the street set-up?

seems like lots of people are going 17x9 with 245s without any fitment issues on stock suspension.

Its definitely a great looking car. I was going the other way. Wish I had more of a chance to look.

These wheels were off my Legacy GT which has a narrow body do stretched is the only way to go if you want the look you get from a wide rim. I put these on just to see how things fit and where I could go from there.

I will say these Goodyears are extremely wide for a 225 as I selected and test fit a few from NTB on the Legacy GT. This tire gave me the best look and just the right stretch without the rim poke.

I think with more negative camber and aftermarket coilovers we may be able to improve width for the street but keep in mind a wider rim makes the tire wider.

Hmm. What GY tire is that, out of curiosity?

I have a set of 17x9 DR-31s in +28mm with 235/45 Federals. They are wicked heavy so I'd hate to put them on, but you are basically at +30 with your front spacers and that's even 1" wider. My Feds are a bit on the tall side, though. Damnit, now I might just spend part of my Saturday trying that out!

I'd love to see more pics of that street setup (different angles, more light/flash). Looks freakin mean.

We are in Gaithersburg, MD.

We'll get the video of our race this weekend when I get a chance to edit and upload the video. Sounds really good though and I could at least hear the engine to shift while racing.

Won't that lower back pressure a lot and make you lose some power?

Backpressure in the cat-back is never a good thing. Header design and scavenging in an NA application is something different and i think thats where the misconception about exhaust backpressure stems from. Also there are still two cats in the system prior to the cut out so there is still excessive backpressure.

I mostly did this for noise and weight. I just couldn't hear my engine when racing and unlike lower power STi builds the power doesn't trail off much prior to the rev limiter so its hard to shift by feel.

Compared to the other track cars it's not loud (still two cats in there) but enough to hear the engine while racing. Inside the car it's pretty load when on the street so I would say keep it for track use as it saves a ton of weight. It's more the bass that makes it loud because as it gets up in the RPM range it's not as bad.

It seems like tuners are leaning towards the scion? I lot of the interior i guess doesnt matter for someone who wants to just get it track ready. I have always hated scions just because of the other little wanna be cars and such but this FRS might pull the name out of the lake! I myself mfg. CF parts for subies and I have been studying this new FT86 and just kind of stuck between getting the FRS or BRZ. But it reassures me when you guys are already sporting scion. Even Greddy and Grimmspeed, and so on. I just might be lame and debage the whole scion if i Did pick one up!

Also is the Raven black like just plain ol' black no metallic or anything ? Because I hate black with metallic in it!

Good job guys on the color choice! Besides white the black is killing it with the looks reminds me of an all black ferrari 599
