that sounds like a great combo getting everything to fit!
everything fits pretty well in my car but the Intercooler rubs on the hood slightly in the top corners.

from the sounds of it the ETS is slightly larger than the Spearco with both flow capacity and cooling capacity, if it also fits better its a no brainier for me to switch over to it.
Not to go off topic but I cruised through your build thread. Sweet ride Justin! Very nice job on your swap and all the new power! I love those PAR rods!

I'm running an MPS LR 2.5 short block, with JE925 custom high comp LR pistons and Saenz Super H Beam custom +2mm long rods with my built PnP'd, +1mm valve, D25 heads from my stock motor. My final CR is 9.6:1 and these heads have a faster burn cycle because they are a hemi shaped chamber and 50cc volume. The off boost response is great and it's a rocket on E85!! They are great on pump also and we have the timing pretty conservative. She still made 400 WTQ on pump!

I forgot to measure the ETS TMIC but I will do that this morning and post up my numbers along with a photo of my engine compartment so you can sit the fit.

Ive been doing some reading about those D25 heads and they sound awesome!! If I had done more research before I went balls deep on my build I may have picked up a set.

I already had my B25 heads ported, with valves in them when I started doing the research. that higher CR will for sure be awesome with E85!!
I am also very envious of the MPS LR motor, those things are unstopable.

Thank you for measuring the core for me I am curious how it would fit, I almost need to find someone in the midwest that would let me test fit one haha.

the spearco barely fits in my car it rubs gently on the AC line below the Y pipe and gently rubs on the hood in the top corners of it...

nothing fits in the GC chassis haha its always a challenge getting things in it.

OK, here are the dimensions of the ETS for the 04-07 STI on my XTI and a couple photos of the engine compartment.
OAD= 19" x 9.5" x 4.25" without mounting tabs, Y pipe and TB port. Top of throttle body port to top of inter-cooler 7/8". Right side/ PS from outside edge of inter-cooler to center of throttle body port 8.5". Left side/ DS from outside edge of inter-cooler to the center of the throttle body port 10.5"

You know maybe Mike at ETS has a test one that he could send you to check fit with a credit card deposit of course! What TMIC mounts are you using? The STI mounts from the 05? Which Y pipe does the Spearco use?

You know I'd be spotting you 600+ lbs. in a heads up race at the track of course! LOL

Haha my car weighed in at 2850 with junk in the glovebox/trunk with out me in it.

I have the 05sti intercooler mounts.

The spearco uses the stock Y pipe.

A heads up race would be thrilling with our closely matched cars haha.

Man if mike would do that. It would be awesome! That's above and beyond what any other vendor would do.

Did you checkout the measurements? Can you make any sense of them with regards to fit?

I don't know if we're matched with the weight difference?

Mine is 18.5x10x4.25

The biggest difference is TB to top I'm at 1.75"

My only question would be y pipe interference underneath

I wonder if the width/ front to back dimension of 9.5" of the ETS will help with that. The other thing is the placement of the y pipe on the bottom of the IC. Maybe Mike at ETS can send you a simple engineered drawing with dimensions for you to check fit.

I think the 9.5" width would help quite a bit, thats really where my Spearco is contacting the hood that last .5" there.

the biggues question is when mounted how the tabs interface with it all and if it will wedge between my AC line and the hood haha..

for reference the AC line sits directly on top of the dog bone and goes horozontally across the car, you can see it just under my catch cans.

if you look in this pic, you can see the AC line and the two rub marks on the hood.

I would think that with the greater offset (top to bottom) being bottom biased that you would clear the hood. It's the AC line that seems like you will have to pay attention to. Maybe with the 1/2" less width (9.5" vs 10") that may also help you with the AC line. I do see the line in your pic, can you do and bending of it to move it further back and tie it off to hold it away from the IC?

I'd call Mike at ETS and talk with him about this! Great guys there and willing to talk, help solve problems! He's been active here so hopefully he knows your plight and may have some answers. I think it may work but I'm not looking at your car!

Hey FYI, looking at your build, I notice the Forge BPV. I have been running that as well and now that I am speed density tuned and not needing the recirculating air, Junior thought I should loose the Forge and go with the Tial. He said it's most likely leaking at my power and boost levels now. I just ordered the Tial Q in black and the Torque solutions adapter plate and recirculation tube plug!

ill be going speed density on this motor and that thought has crossed my mind as well haha.
I have the stiff spring in there and a few washers but 30 psi is really pushing it hard.
ill look into this combo you have!!

The AC line is bent pretty hard now haha you can see the mount barely hanging on. The pitch stop is touching it so going any lower isn't an option. If it didn't have bolt on fittings on either side I'd make a custom line.

Thanks for talking to Mike for me! my car is pretty unique and id be happy to help ETS out for any assistance they would provide to me!

I would take some vinyl tubing bigger diameter than the AC line slice it length wise, cut it to length and wrap it around the line with zip ties. Then pull the line back and tie it off to whatever you can, protected by the vinyl.

good call, it mostly rubs on the fitting where the line transitions from rubber to hard line.
also where the bracket mounts. other than that its clear.

insulating it isnt a bad idea.

Michael @ ETS is a great guy. I strongly recommend them and they are Vendor here.

They went out of their way to help me out with a custom setup.

You guys already know the quality of their products.

Here are the latest dyno graphs of my XTI using the ETS TMIC, from my touch up tuning session with Junior last Monday.

93 pump gas tune, 22 psi, 3rd gear LR 07 6 speed trans.

E85 tune, 27 psi, 3rd gear LR 6 speed trans, ID1k injectors are maxed out!

Here is a link to my PPB thread here for all the details.
http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=2480570

Bottom line is The ETS TMIC is a great intercooler and will support more HP than they even publish!

I would also like to know. I have a fresh one which they apparently changed within the last few months to a crappier build. It was very hot on the dyno, and still pretty hot even on a coupe pulls on the highway and pulling off to feel it.

Rulevoid - Can you email me your contact info with your first and last name so I can find the order? We haven't made a change to the intercooler. I want to make sure you received a legit ETS intercooler.

Thanks!

Thanks for the reply Michael, I e-mailed you guys all the info. It was purchased through TopSpeed Motorsports so I don't think legitimacy would be the issue here.
