Thumbs up TB Bypass

I read in a few places about a TB bypass on our cars. I thought it was a joke; like cross drilled brake lines.
A little research and I found that they were talking about bypassing the coolant that is plumbed into the TB to heat it up.
RS owners know that after driving their cars for awhile the TB is HOT!
Intake too.
So it would make sense that these hot components would heat up the air going into the engine making less power.

I figured I'd give it a shot.

Well it works. Only 1 to 3 HP. However, after driving stop and go for awhile you really notice a difference in the cars smoothness. Also, I popped the hood and felt the TB.... It didn't burn me!! IT was almost room temp! The intake was hot, but not hot enough to burn me like usual.
Also, I've noticed that the AF ratio at WOT is more lean than before- due to the more dense air. The car actually ran lean throughout the band for a little while. Then the computer compensated and mixtures are getting back to normal.

IMO it was easy and worth it.

Dominic

Wow. Impressive! A friend of mine performed that mod on his '93 5.0 Mustang... I thought he was nuts. I guess he wasn't!
