Default EGT probe in stock manifold.

I plan to have my stock manifold (#3 cyl) drilled and tapped for the Defi EGT probe. I have heard that there can be problems with the probe seizing in the cast-iron manifold over time. Is there something (like NeverSeize) that can be applied to the threads that will prevent this, and will hold up to the heat?

The probe is screwed into a bung, bung is stainless steel, the bung is tapped into the manifold and not removed.

So the Defi EGT probe will come with a stainless steel bung that is threaded to install in a drilled/tapped hole in the cast iron manifold?

The SS bungs that I have seen were all the type that you welded on to a tubular (not cast iron) manifold.

hondaeater69: I have been unable to source such a "screw in adapter" for use with cast iron. Do you know of a source?

Every bung I've ever had that was meant for installing into a tapped port was made of brass and yes, you can use antiseize on the threads to prevent it from seizing.

If your sender didn't come with the bung adapter (what kind of hokey gauge kit doesn't?), get new ones from www.egauges.com

the defi gauge will come with a threaded bung to screw into the manifold. I drilled and tapped the cast manifold. It works fine with no sign of leaks
