Ah, thanks! Luckily I haven't been stuck in mud/snow yet =0 I did get 2 wheels stuck in a little ditch this past fall, and was really glad to have AWD, but that's another story lol...

Ya the traction button is probably all you need in snow muddy stuff. But if you want to go play around in a large parking lot full of snow you gotta kill that fuse. If you haven't watched episode 2 of subiesport tv I suggest that you watch it. They do a race in an XV vs. a dirt fish rally car. Obviously the dirt fish car is faster and better prepped, but what the guy says about the vdc in the XV is true.

Also, are you turning the car off before switching back to VDC ON? |

I don't think so because if you disconnect the wiring from the back the ecu will see it as permanently in the off positron

. Maybe, but I don't know nor did I look. When you put the bypass switch in the traction button doesn't even work (no light on the dash when pushed). Yes you have to turn the car off to turn vdc back on.

I'm pretty sure disabling VDC with the bypass would also disable traction control, as I believe traction control is PART of VDC. I can't see the computer allowing the car to drift around corners (using the mentioned VDC bypass) yet not allow wheel spin.

Since pulling the fuse/adding bypass switch disables traction control and vdc, why not disconnect the existing wiring clip from the traction control switch? Could use a jumper in the clip so the computer doesn't see the system as always off. Then connect the new VDC fuse bypass to the existing switch. Wouldn't be any easier than adding a new switch but it would look stock. Then should there be any electrical problems that require a trip to the dealer, simply disconnect the bypass and reattach the stock setup. And no one at the dealer would know.

I think I read somewhere in this thread that the Traction Control switch is not an ON/OFF switch anyway. Wasn't it just an interrupter? If the bypass was connected to a switch like that would VDC be disabled if: the switch was held in then the brake pedal was applied, then release the switch? And of course it would remain disabled until the car was restarted. The traction control switch is available for $20. I'm only going down this road because I want things inside to look stock. Not to discredit what apexracer has done. I'm thankful he was the guinea pig on this! And I will definitely be doing some kind of switch. |

From what i've gathered from using the bypass fuse switch, it's like the ecu needs to shut down then start up for the vdc to come back alive. I don't know too much about interrupter switches. But let's try.

if it is just a momentary switch, then after pressing the button the electricity can still flow back through the fuse box and into the ECU. that might be what we want to avoid, need to find a different switch solution that will still look factory |

We know that when the fuse is pulled and replaced the VDC won't reset until the car is turned off and on. And with the fuse pulled VDC isn't disabled until the brake pedal is pressed. I think with the momentary switch, if you press and hold it, it would be the same has pulling the fuse. As long as the brake pedal is depressed while the switch is being pressed the VDC should be disabled. And not reset until the car is turned off and on. Even if the switch is released, completing the circuit.
The Rear FogLight Switch is probably a switch that would work best. I assume that switch is not a momentary switch. There is also a small gray harness visible in the fuse box area. Does anyone know if that is for connecting to the rear foglight switch? If so, no matter what OEM switch we use, there's a possibility of tapping into that harness to make the switch illuminate. |

i think that harness is for those w/o factory installed fogs, it would plug into the new foglight switch.
i believe the foglight switch is a toggle switch, just need to make a new label for it |

Too bad it's an illuminated switch. And the fog light symbol is cut through the switch.
I want that momentary switch to work. Just need a few minutes to go play around with it. Good thing it's not going to snow here for 4-5 months. |

i finally figured out the switch i want for my VDC disable, and it looks like it should fit in our cars, but I have no idea how to find the part number to be able to order it.
other thing i'm not 100% sure on is if it is a momentary switch or not |
