Default Good Deal on messed up 02 WRX?

So this Ebaying dealer in Downers Grove has an 02 for sale which I can probably get for $8-9000. 1st Gear is shot, AC does not blow cold, missing trunk/radio, ricey taillights, ricey muffler, no intake installed in pictures where car is running It does have some 18" Prodrives which I could probably get a solid $500+ for since I don't want that big of wheels. I would plan on modding the hell out of it but I think even $8000 may be too high if the engine is effed due to someone obviously beating the hell out of this thing and there being no intake system. I would really like to swap in a 6MT or an RA gearset and also plan on losing the stock turbo. Car only has 25k so what do you guys think? I would get a CF trunk and replace the radio with an MP3 deck so I don't care about those and the AC doesn't matter...

Also what would I expect to pay for a tranny/gearset install? Does GRD/P&L do those?

Dan

If the engine is ok, then it's not such a bad deal especially if you're planning on replacing a lot of the parts anyway. A 6spd swap could be expensive especially if you're buying the pieces from several different people/places.
Give P&L a call, they were the ones who did the work on mine - and a pretty good one at that

I'm betting the frame might be a little tweeked.
I'm pretty sure both shops would do whatever work you wanted done.

If your looking to spend 8k+ why not buy a full sti convertion (6 speed, ecu and all) then swap it into a RS or something. Cheaper insurance, "sleeper" and considering the car your looking it has been riced. I'm betting that motor is gonna be commin out once the rods finally fail from whatever some child did to that poor car.

The lamers said it is still under warranty so I asked why the trans/ac hasn't been fixed and they said its because there was a CAI on the car Still if I show up carrying cash you never know what they'll take for the piece. I just sent them an email asking if I can take it to a nearby Subaru dealer to have the engine checked out. If the frame is bent it would have to have been a salvage title I assume and a Carfax would turn that up correct?

That is if they reported what happen. I have seen a few damaged scoobs on the road with "clean" titles.

There is a saying... you get what you pay for. In that case, I'd say stay VERY far away, or expect many problems.
