I drive an 02 bugeye wagon, the 09 was for wifey. We had a battle last night regarding backing out of this vehicle. I lost the fight and she is driving it today. At least mine looks better & will probably last longer.

I showed it all to her and all she had to say (almost crying)was don't ruin this for me and we will deal with the problem if it happens.
Dealer also said no break in period on these cars. I swear I read 1,000 mile break in. This dealer also has a 30 day return policy on all new cars within 30 days & 500 miles no questions. |

^she loves the car, who cares, your engine goes pop, you get it fixed, big deal,.... on the bright side the trend seems to be they blow earlier than later,....
or you could return the car and then buy another one from another dealer or the same one with a later build date.. |

Engine replacement will show up on the car fax when you go to sell which can de-value the car plus as others have said the car may not run properly after. Tell her to think long term and find a car with a newer build date. Not sure why she would cry about being told not to buy a car with a broken engine. It's not like these cars are discontinued, you can still buy these cars. Edit: Looks like it's too late. Oh well at least you will get the 'I told you so' on her when she's complaining about her car being in the shop for a week. Women sometimes need to learn the hard way that not every battle is worth winning. Last edited by heavyD; 08-20-2009 at 05:05 PM. |

Yeah, I really don't see the big deal. It's not like every dealership is sold out of 09 WRX's. The specific one I wanted, the dealer didn't have, but had DX'd in within 2 days. It's not like you'd have to wait a month or so to get a car.

Just make sure you educate her on what to listen for... Show her the SOA roadside assistance number.. And tell her to drive it like she normally would... Don't baby it.... If it happens, it happens... Overall -- SOA has been great to 99.9% of us.. but I think in 0.1% -- It might be more dealer issues than SOA... *Shurg* Congrats on your new car! |

I have been working her for a year now to get "her " a new car. I planned on switching cars with her after a month or so. Now I don't even want the 09. I hope she enjoys it.
I guess now I need an up/downpipe and an AP for my 02. |

I used to have an 04 (Which was pretty much an 02 with a facelift) .. And the 09 is such a leap forward it's painful .. (Perhaps not in looks to some tho...) I do miss my MOMO steering wheel tho... Just don't hate the car because you think it it tainted... |

thats exactly how I feel about the car like its tainted and I have not even driven it yet. The car is Gray premium and does look hot. Mine is on prodrives w rota torques w 225's and I honestly don't know which looks better. I need some pics.
Two kids in an ms3 were in the lot when she picked it up and they said to her thats "your" car , it looks amazing. |

Depending on interest rate, length of a loan, and over payments on the loan -- it usually takes 40-60% of the life of a loan to break even. Don't even think about this tho.. Trust me.. Enjoy the car. Quote:
I don't know what the heck has happened between yourself, the dealer, and SOA -- but it is the exact polar opposite of my experience. SOA has gone above and beyond for me. And I couldn't be happier with the resolution to my issues. Of this thread, we have 80+ dead engines -- And you're really the only person who is still pissed... You have the right to be upset, but I would recommend you might want to try and resolve the issue civilly. And don't be afraid to go into your regional form, and ask your community for help. 4 People from different deals in the SE PM'd me after my car blew up telling me to contact them if I need help.... That's the power of NASIOC.. But seriously man, this poor guys wife just bought a new car... Don't **** in his/her cheerios.. We warned him, she didn't care -- Now all we can do is help educate them on the process to get the issue resolved, should that situation a raise... |

If anything happens, you probably won't have any issues. Get your oil changed at the proper intervals, break in the engine for a 1K (even though they said don't worry about it) and be polite, yet straigh-forward if you experience the problem. As Celly said, 99.9% of us on here that have gone through this have been taken care of in a very good way. Some of the "new" engine problems I've seen on here have to be local dealer issues, not SoA issues. I am approaching a 1k on the new engine and all seems to be going well. Only time will tell, but my apprehension is all but gone now. Enjoy it man and when she her car start to sound like a diesel, call roadside assistance and SoA right then to get the ball rolling. Good luck!
In Florida, the car has to be in the shop for the same issue 3 differnet times or for 30 days in the first 2 years for the same issue. At that point you are elligible for abitration and possible new vehicle replacemant or full refund. Like I said though, you probably won't need to go that route. If that doesn't work, definitely discuss it with a lemon law attorney. I found a really good one in CA who doesn't charge the customer, he bills Subaru. I don't know where you are located but if you are in CA let me know if you want the info. We still may use him if we can't find a replacement vehicle that we really like. I'll let you guys know what happens. |

I just finished my 1000 mile break in period so now I can drive the car like I normally would. As was said above, just let her know what to listen for. I knew what the problem sounded like so the day I started the car and heard the knocking I went into the house to call SOA. My car was turned around in one week. |

I"m going out on a limb here...but if I had to guess, you are relatively new to the married life? Let me speak for the 20 year or so club by saying that ANYTHING THAT MAKES HER HAPPY WILL MAKE YOU HAPPY IN ONE WAY OR ANOTHER!!! The converse is even more true: WHATEVER PISSES HER OFF WILL, LIKE WATER FROM THAT LEAKY PIPE YOU HAVEN'T FIXED, EVENTUALLY COST YOU A LOT MORE THAN YOU BARGAINED FOR |
