Has anyone noticed their radar detector picking up laser signals extremely often when no cop is around? Did the cops plant fake lasers or something or is my radar just broken?

A cheap detector will pick up all kinds of stray signals. Even automatic doors at stores.

I get false laser readings while just driving around town every once in a while with my V1. I don't get anything at WOT though.

radar/laser based adaptive cruise control, and LED taillights have both been widely known to set off detectors.

i noticed on I-5 headin north near marysville they have planted a ton of speed radar cameras that go off about every 500 feet. I was like WTF!, why is my radar blasting every minute and finally i spotted the little radar systems on some light poles. they were pickin up on K or Ka though, not laser. Not sure if that has anything to do with what you're talking about, probly not but FYI, be aware if you're driving near there.... also if an Inifiti drives by me, i will get a false Laser reading everytime cuz of their parking sensors.

One of these days the cops are going to figure out, if they haven't already, that they can slow down traffic just by putting radar and laser emitters here and there. For a few bucks apiece they could accomplish two things -- first, slowing down folks with detectors, which slows down traffic around them as well, and second, increase the false alarm rate so high that detectors become useless.

They would do that but they wouldn't make any money! Police depts. are in it for the revenue for the state.

But i have gotten it at WOT and just normal driving around and in some same spots too, mostly around eastgate and bellevue. And yes it is the Escort X50...

I want a V1 now...

You're picking up laser scatter from vehicles equipped with laser guided cruise control systems (Infinity is one of the more popular vehicles with this feature). I have a V1 and I get this every so often. Unless you're just sitting in your driveway with nothing around you and it's going off, then it's probably a vehicle false.

As for full-blown radar alerts when accelerating - that is caused by electrical noise generated in your vehicle.

How would someone go about getting this fixed?

I have an Excort X50 and I get random Laser warnings when accelerating. Happens in places that clearly no laser, cruise control, or what-have-you would appear...

Hmm. In my mustang the only problems I have when I launch is the rearview mirror on the windshield falls off.

My V1 picks up tail light as laser... especially GMC envoys. My V1 malfunctioned once too and read 'E' for error every once an a while. I sent it in to Valentine and they sent me a new one. Besides that my V1 rocks...saved me countless times.

Just turn off POP mode then. No pop for me with my 9500i = No problems.

clean your window with windex. mine used to fall once in a while, but only cause the window started to get hazy. or get better suction cups.

So is there anything that will fix the electrical noise inside my car to not set my radar off when at WOT?

When I had my Cobra detector, it picked up EVERYTHING, including other peoples detectors. It was annoying.

But I got a Whistler... and it didn't pick up ANYTHING. Hell... I even got two tickets with it in my car and on... I was pretty pissed.
