I kinda agree with dub from my point of view. That is the whole reason we went to Afgahn, I know it has been a long fight but we need to stay the course and destroy these D-bags. I just wish they would let us say "f" the gloves and go bare nuckle. Part of the biggest prob is so many liberal butt heads have made it into office and think that we can talk and negotiate with these guys. I know from experaince that the only way to handle these guys is with force and death. People scream about the right of these terroists, yeah they have human rights but do not have American rights......instead of sitting in Gitmo these guys need to hang. Just my .02

Its not surprising to think that most of America has forgotten. For them its been a long time and they werent changed by that day in a way that a lot of us here in close proximity were. Most of us knew people who worked in the towers or around there and we could see the spoke columns outside our windows for weeks. I remember worrying like that crazy that my father wasnt going to make it home out of the city that day and I remember my Fire Department having to send a truck and crew of guys into the city to cover the FDNYs area because they just had no one left to spare. Those of us here will always remember it more because of the impact it had on our lives. Its just a shame that others forget so easily what doesnt effect them personally. Its an event that we should always remember for how it changed our world and so that hopefully we can prevent it in the future.

And to think that 2974 people died as a result of 9/11. God bless the families and all of the emergency responders, including 343 "brothers" who passed as a result of it.

I'm not trying to be a dick, but honestly did you know that as a result of the fighting in Iraq that 100,000 civilians have died?
That's 33 times the amount that were killed in 9/11.

Last spring, we still didn't allow visitors to being cameras into the tour area of the U.S. Mint. When I explained the policy to one family, their daughter (maybe 10 years old) asked why we had that policy. I replied, "It's a security precaution that was put into effect after 9/11." The daughter's response: "What's 9/11?" I looked at the parents who obviously never bothered to educate their child on what's going on in the world. Or, maybe they had already forgotten, too. I know the kid was a baby when it happened, but I was born in 1970, and by the time I was 5, I had a general idea of what had happened with Viet Nam. PEOPLE remember 9/11, but the public in general acts as if it never happened sometimes. I see it every day at my job.

We have already elected a half-muslim president named Barry Hussein Obama who wants to be buddies with these guys. That in and of itself is pretty self-explanatory as to America's short memory.

Read some of the responses below. Putting a sticker on your car and talking about it occasionally in the media is NOT remebering what happened, why, and what we need to do to prevent another such occurrence.

You're right, it is truly a shame. Unfortunately, it will happen again, only on a worse scale next time and of course in a different manner.

I see every day it too.

Looks like even Obama forgot. But Jersey City remembered what happened real quickly when that half-wit decided to start buzzing buildings downtown with Air Force One - without giving any notice to ANYONE. People were RUNNING out of building SCREAMING only a couple of months ago. I saw pregnant women being taken away in ambulances as a result of that stunt.

Me neither. I was walking to work and saw the second plane impact happen in front of my eyes, first hand. That was quite a life changing experience. Sitting there, watching and hearing and even smelling the towers burn and fall right in front of my eyes. Seeing human shapes flying out of the windows to the ground. Seeing people coming back from work that day covered in dust, and hearing their stories of survival and lost loved ones.

I for one, at least, will never forget and will never forgive. And I hope none of you do either.

Time heals wounds. The best way for most is to forget or get passed those times.

Come on, even America's mayor Rudy just recently made a blunder in one of his comments 2 weeks ago after the failed bombing of the flight to Detroit.

He stated that the Bush administration had never been attacked on U.S. soil and he retracted his statements. He only retracted that statement when asked what about 9/11.

I was a young professional 2 years out of college working downtown when I saw the buildings burn. It was straight out of a sci-fi movie. Just unreal.

The mass exodus of Manhattan is what I'll never forget. I still get chills thinking about it and typing now.

Literally thousands and thousands of people just walking uptown and no where to go. No cars running, people holding up signs saying they needed a ride to a hospital. It's the closest thing to war we'll ever see on U.S. soil.

God Bless.

There have not been any succesful attacks on a large scale since this happened. To say talking about it in the media is not remembering what is?

Would you like the country to walk around every day in fear of what is going to happen next. I have not forgotten, and am able to walk outside my house and feel safe and protected.

How would you like us to "rememeber" this?

After reading through the posts it has made me realize that people have a different view of remembering...
Both neither right nor wrong. I believe we need to educate more people on this harsh reality to a greater extent, but we have to do a careful job so that we do not instil fear into them.

Kdub i believe you are right in think a lot of people have forgotten. I believe many of us have. I also believe that a lot of the people you view as "forgetting" do not forget yet refuse to let the terroists instil fear in thier lives.

Apparently we need a recap of what has happened since 9/11.

Invaded Afghanistan
Surrounded Bin Laden at Tora Bora
Let Pakistani troops "go after him", only to never have the chance again
Invade Iraq for no good reason
Over 4,000 U.S. forces die

If anything, America elected a President with the brains to listen to the right recommendations to send more forces to Afghanistan. Remember Afghanistan? Yeah, where freakin' Bin Laden is. Not Iraq.

This sort of statement only can make one think you're the actual person with no brains.

Either approve or disapprove, but no brains? Really? The man is a Harvard Law School graduate. That achievement alone speaks volumes.

I personally am not a big Obama fan but let's not get ridiculous.

Not to be a dick, well actually I am, but if you have been over (and if you have I appologize, but I mean over there as in patrol and not a FOBIT) you would know and have seen why so many civs have died, a lot of times you cannot choose where the fight is and hadji is kinda stupid when it comes to fire fights, they like to be all up your gov and knowing whats going down, hence a few dead civ hadji's

D

I think one of the biggest problems of our former administration was Rummy, not to say the GW isn't to be held responsible for the actions under him but I know from my view Rummy f-ed Iraq from the get go. As for Afgahn, the fight there quieted down after Anaconda and the invasion of Iraq. It seems they were waiting for the focus to shift then rebuild and the insurgents ran after the surge in Iraq worked and seemed to push them back to Afgahn.
