zero noticeable effect. The entire system is only active for 20-40 seconds at a cold start. It replaced front cat converters.

And it eliminates something that can eventually fail.

No effect after the initial 90 seconds or so. I can't tell the difference. I suspect once you take out the factory downpipe that the secondary air has no actual function. |

The primary function of this system is to add extra air into the cylinders during the first 20-30 seconds of cold start up to lean out the mixture a bit and heat up the catalytic converters so they work more efficiently.

I really didn't think a yes or no answer would be such a big deal. lol but whatever someone mentioned that it your valve is stuck closed to just delete the codes and move on. If I did this would my car mess up in any way?

Hahahaha nasifail
If your valves are stuck in the closed position, and you are positive of this. Then you can just delete the codes and pull the fuses and be done with it. But make sure that they are indeed stuck in the closed position, or you will run into problems. If you have an 07 the you have yo leave the 5 pin sensor connected from the drivers side valve. The other valve has only 2. Hope that helps. If you have any more questions free free to pm me ~Evil Last edited by EvileyeZ88; 05-02-2012 at 10:54 AM. |

My 2006 Impreza wrx just threw these codes at me a p2440 and p2442.My cobb accessport says its my secondary air injection valve bank one and bank two are stuck open. I dont know what they are could someone please tell me if these are harmful to my engine and should be fixed very soon or is it alright just to clear them with my accessport?
Thank you Ronnie |

It is a bad thing. You need to either replace your valves, or install block off plates and delete all related codes.
You should read through this thread, it has all the information you could possibly need to know about the subject. ~Evil |

Just an update for my car.
Had the P0410 code, and I will conform that it is just the air pump itself that has gone bad. I bought a used pump off a nasioc member and its just fine now. Next time I have a problem... delete plates are going on. |

Had the airpump off my car for years, no issues short of a few codes.

If you buy some block off plates do you need to buy some gaskets, or can you just reuse the old ones?
