That's what I read from reviews and personally experience myself and you're saying the CVT is worse? hmmmmm. I guess I have to test drive first.
Yes, that's what I'm saying. In my wife's new Forester, her OBS, her '05 Forester, and my old '05 Legacy, the 4EAT with the 2.5 would have that instant-torque feeling right off the line to get you out into traffic, through an intersection, whatever. The CVT in the Legacy felt sluggish to us. I'll admit that it accelerated better once it got past 15 or 20 mph and for passing, but it really lacked that confidence-inspiring trait of being able to jump like a scalded cat when you wanted it to. Maybe it was because it was a brand-new car and hadn't been broken in/learned driving habits yet. Otherwise, I liked the CVT. I just prefer driving stick in my own daily driver.

Get a trim level that gets you heated seats and heated windshield wiper elements. The others are dealer-options, and you can negotiate the price. I am highly jealous of my wife's remote start in her F-XT. She can start her car from inside, while I have to do the walk of shame in -30 C weather, to start mine.
From what I have read, the body side moldings (around the wheel wells and sides) come with the Sport-Premium and Sport-Limited trims. It states "body colored" for this and the roof-rails. Yet every picture I have seen (and previous years Outback "sports") the plastic pieces are grey/black, same with the roof rails?

Also still curious if the bolt pattern will be 5x100???

My best guess is that they are 5x100, but I don't know if it has been confirmed anywhere.

I found this guide that very clearly states the exterior colors with interior color combinations:

https://www.subaruofkeene.com/2012-subaru-impreza.htm

It's a shame I can't get that dark red with black interior, that would looks SOOO hot.

$500 bucks, that can be applied as a down payment once the vehicle comes in.

Supposed to be hearing shortly from SOA about that $500 incentive too. Probably going to go with the Trek bike, not sure about the warranty extension.

CANADIAN pricing.
http://www.auto123.com/en/news/car-n...a?artid=134779

Here then are the prices for the new 2012 Impreza :

The 4-door will be available in four trims : base ($19,995), Touring ($21,695), Sport ($23,895) and Limited ($25,895).

The 5-door will be delivered in the same four trims and the pricing will be as follows : base ($20,895), Touring ($22,595), Sport ($24,795) and Limited ($26 795).

Every Impreza will include a 5-speed manual transmission as standard equipment. The optional CVT autobox will carry a $1,300 premium.

So Limited 5-door CVT:
USA = 22095.00
Canadian = 28095.00

Though if I'm not mistaken Canadian Limited includes Moonroof + Nav and in USA this is 2K extra, am I correct?
If not 6K difference in price is too much, I'll be heading south.

I'd call this confirmation. Check the wheels.

And we know for a fact that the BP Outback has 5x100 hubs.

The wheels are the same, save paint color, so I would say that is a high confidence level that the Impreza still uses the same age-old 5x100 hubs, too.

I think (?) that's only for Canadian models.

^ Seems like it...and in Japanese ones. Mind you, a "cool" nintendo-type animation risks being nothing more than a useless distraction after the initial hype is gone. I would still favour an OBD-II connected gaugefest...

Factor in the currency exchange (which I know the manufacturers don't like us doing), and we are definitely being chumped as usual.

The extra Canadian consumer cost is to cover printing the manual in French

The closest dealer (to Alberta) I as able to find that will sell to Canadians is Van Bortel Subaru, though they are charging $750/extra
Quote:
Canadian Export Surcharge
We have begun to add a non negotiable $750 Canadian Export Surcharge to all Canadian Sales. This covers the
enormous amount of work done by myself, and other dealership employees, behind the scenes in order to get a car
safely and smoothly out of the US and into your driveway. There are many people that assist me in making sure your
buying experience goes smoothly and that you're able to clear customs without issue. I will get your new Subaru
cleared for export through the US Customs Vehicle Export Office at the Lewiston Bridge in Buffalo.
Pricing
Due to the earthquake, and subsequent tsunami, in Japan this past March we will be experiencing an extreme
shortage of vehicle availability that will possibly last through August and into September. In order to keep from
having to furlough or layoff employees we have had to increase our pricing. We hope to keep this increase
temporary. Our pricing is still fixed and well below Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price, or MSRP. Other New
York dealers have reportedly gone to MSRP or over due to the same shortage. Pricing can be found on our website,
www.buildyourownsubaru.com, where you can follow the build your own function all the way to the end where it
says "click for quote" and you'll see the total vehicle cost. To that you simply add the Canadian Export Surcharge of
$750 and $110 for New York State fees (detailed below).
New York State Fees
There is a total of $110 we collect for New York State Department of Motor Vehicles fees. The are itemized as
follows.
$12.50 NYS Tire Tax
$12.50 NYS In Transit Permit (30 day temporary license plate)
$10.00 NYS Inspection
$75.00 NYS Title
$110.00
There are absolutely no taxes, fees, or duties collected by us. There is no sales tax charged as the car will not be
registered in New York State. Canadian buyers are responsible for all applicable taxes, duties, and fees upon their
return to Canada.
Partial Zero Emissions Vehicles (PZEV)
All Subaru Forester 2.5X, Outback 2.5i, and CVT equipped Legacy 2.5i models sold in New York MUST be PZEV
regardless of where the end user resides. A New York Subaru dealer cannot sell you a non PZEV version of these
models. The PZEV equipped Subaru models range from $307 to $310 more than a non PZEV car and certain on
line price guides have this as a manually selectable option in their "build your own" functions. A PZEV Subaru's
emissions warranty is increased to 15 years or 150,000 miles, which ever occurs first, and covers anything emissions
related. This includes, but is not limited to, oxygen sensors, emissions control computers, catalytic converters, and
gas caps. The standard warranty on emissions systems from Subaru is 8 years or 80,000 miles, whichever occurs
first. The 8/80 coverage applies to 3.6R 6 cylinder Legacy, Outback, and Tribeca models, turbocharged models, all
Impreza models, and the Legacy 2.5i with the 6 speed manual transmission.

Do they "announce" invoices? That wouldn't be smart.

And your sticker listed it at 29mpg. I have gotten 31.4 on a trip. Now, the sticker on the Impreza is going to say 37, so I am expecting 41-42 on trips.

Speaking of Nintendo, I sat in an STI at a dealer a few years back and thought it was so cool there was an RCA input in the center arm-rest so you could view a video source on the NAV screen, IE a Nintendo!!! ; )

Was that feature only on a certain model year?

You get nostalgia points for referring to a video game console as "a Nintendo", nice one!

If I were to buy the new Impreza I would also head south. The Canadian price difference is just too much and unjustified.

As a Canadian, ill be planning to buy a 2012 Impreza Limited from the USA. does anyon have experienc with this? Are we still able to negotiate Price with US DEALERS or do they make you pay MSRP because they know we're saving as Canadians? How do you get the best deal as a Canadian buying from a US DEALER? I see that Subaru of Keene or Van Bortel would be the dealers I'd buy from.

Thanks for the advice!

My local dealer expects stock around mid-november.

They said I can do a factory order on exactly what I want and it would take 5-10 weeks. But I need to see the colors in person, sit in one, and oh yeah, DRIVE one first!
