Quick question about injector swapping
So, I've got a 2005 Baja with stock injectors, 535 Yellow Sidefeeds. The injectors are garbage. Not in general, the specific injectors I've got are garbage. I've already had to replace the left side injectors, #3 wasn't doing anything at idle, which fixed that... But I still am running lean at idle. All I was able to get was a set of Yellow sidefeeds from a totaled out Baja, and one broke while installing it, so I've basically got one spare. Subaru doesn't sell them brand new, and going with aftermarket modded sidefeeds just seems... Unreliable.
So, I've been kicking around the idea of getting some Top Feed TGV delete housings, some 560cc STI top feed injectors, a set of top feed fuel rails, and doing an upgrade. My question is this: If I get top feed injectors from a specific year of STI, and I grab the stock map for said car, can I just copy pasta the injector scaling over into my 2005 ECU, and get it to run at least 'close enough' to use the ROMRaider injector scaling to get a good, safe injector setup? The "nearest tuner" to me is 300 miles away, which means it would cost around $1,000 just to tow the vehicle up there, plus another $500 to get a tune. I'm nowhere near done upgrading this thing, so it would potentially be a waste to have to do constant retuning at a tuner, when I can do most of this myself (and already have been doing so). I just don't have any experience messing with injectors, and I would rather not blow my motor up (yet). Also, and I've goggled this, do the sidefeed and topfeed injectors all use the same harness connector? Or do I need to pick up a set of harness connectors and do some soldering?

You can borrow injector scaling and latency data and it should get you close as long as your intake has been scaled if it isn't stock. You can fine tune from there on logging your wideband. Also i'm not 100% sure but I do believe that the top and side feed injectors have the same plug and should plug right in.

Thanks for the info. I'm going to start heading forward with this plan, ordering TGV deletes and such as soon as my next trip is completed. |
