Is it also going to have a new engine driving those 4 wheels instead of two? Because you know it would be a shame to add more of a drivetrain loss without compensating on the engine side too.

It gets to run around the Sebring full course on the 15th, and then some night-time action rally-x on the 29th! Pete Mastro said today..."that thing really needs a roll cage" so that's probably next on the list! |

Huh? Wha? What's this Mastro Monster you speak of?
Opie - what's happening with all the unused stock pieces of the FWD car? I could use a tranny mount and the rear seat cushions. |

Here ya go...
Monster on left, Donor on right: Ack...where's my rear end?: Both Under the knife: Coming apart nicely: Stripped and ready for it's new parts: Mre pics come on Monday, as of last night we had the AWD fuel tank, rear sub-frame, rear diff, brakes etc all installed in the Monster. Swapping the trannies on Monday and installing the driveshaft. By Tuesday we hope to the drivetrain swap completed and the car driving. Then we can swap some of the other small parts we need and finish stripping the donor down for spare parts. Doink Mobb, come by and see us next week, I'll give you a smoking deal on the rear seats. would the old wheel spindles work on a 00RS? just because i'm hard on bearings apparently & it'd be nice to have a spare set around i could just toss on if the ones on the car go bad...

Come by and make an offer, they have to be sold through the parts dept as used parts but I think we have two sets, 1-tan, 1-gray.

Alright sounds good Opie. Do I come in and ask for you, or just go to the parts counter and tell them what I want?

Actually we started building the white one about 4 months ago as a rally-x/auto-x car, so it was already gutted and partially prepped. That in addition with the money already spent on routine maintance on the white one (timing belt, water pump, seals, etc.) and the graphics and the mods. Plus the fact that the white one is a 4 door (easier to access the rear area, easier to find parts and cheaper to install a roll cage) and the red one has some light body damage (rear ended & pushed into another car) we decided to continue on with the white one. On a side note, the red one will be just a body shell soon...might make a good rally shell starter project for someone! |
