Depends on whether you're looking at gas rc or electric. They both have their ups and downs. Regardless they are a blast.
You'll be looking between $250-$500 pending on what you're looking for to start off.

Yah the kits start at $130+ and don't come with a remote, battery and steering servo, so depending on how high end you go it can be pretty costly.

Well you fooled me! Definitely looks like two pictures merged into one.

The cars look so similar I didn't even notice a difference. Haha. After looking harder I can see a rear strut bar in the window of the car on the left and there is not one in the car on the right...also the side skirts are different as well...

So I will retract my previous statement and now state "Clean Rides and nice pic"! Haha.
