9-2x Aero was awesome. I always wanted them to make an STI variant, 9-2x Viggen.

A good friend of mine wanted it, sold for $6000 with 2 sets of wheels and a ton of spares. It was a fully sorted car without any issues nor rust. It was STi cloned inside except the rear seat that was from a bugeye wagon. It ran super smooth, I will miss it some days I’m sure.

So far, this year is worse than 2021.

Pretty sure this is industry-wide and not just the WRX.

Not defending the ugly POS but let’s look at the big picture here.

I could have been a buyer, I like the car but wouldn’t buy a direct injection vehicle that doesn’t have port injection also. It came down to that.

Completely overblown “issue” with an easy fix if it does lead to a CEL or drivability problems.

Subaru will choke off WRX to nothing on purpose.

It certainly seems that way. I would have kept my RA if I saw that coming. Oh, well...on to bigger and better.

Speaking of which - I helped my mom buy a CPO CX-30 Premium last week. It's a really nice little car - the interior is almost Lexus-like and it handles great for being a little CUV. It's a bit underpowered for my tastes, but will serve her just fine. She sold her CX-9 last year and has been driving my grandmother's Forester, which she absolutely hates. Let that sink in a bit - she'd rather spend a chunk of change on a new car than drive a Forester for free.

What year Forester and did she give a reason she "hates"(strong feeling) it?

Yea, that's the issue with these numbers. We don't know the volume shipped to dealers. They might be selling out of cars, or not. SOA could greatly reduce the flow of WRXs for CAFE reasons.

Should’ve gotten a new Forester. The depreciation on those Mazdas is atrocious.

IIRC, it's a 2014 or 2015. Paraphrasing - underpowered, coarse drivetrain, "tippy" handling compared to the Mazdas, economy class interior that's not overly comfortable. Not paraphrasing - it's ugly.

I've driven all three vehicles in question and I agree. I really dislike the Forester and think she should have kept her CX-9 and sold the Fozzy. On the other side of the coin, my grandmother loves the thing. It's been bomb-proof reliable and she's had zero problems with it. The only other nice thing I can say about it is that the AC rocks. They live in FL, so that matters.

I’d rather not have to deal with any of it. I like direct injection when port injection is also present.

Legit. I'm just always curious why some cars are chosen then others are chosen. We get lots of new customers that come from the other brands saying roughly the same thing or opposite on the drive. Many don't like the "harder"/sportier driving of the Mazda. WRX still is a curiosity to me how many times the trade in is a truck and then when they want out of one, it's back to a truck.

only 10 at my local dealer, most with a 3K discount.

Contrast that with 82 Crosstreks, 78 Outbacks, 59 Foresters, 28 Ascents.

That's a normal number though. My local in NY, a dealer in NJ I bought from, a dealer in NH that I bought from, and the dealer in MA that I used during college all have 7-8 WRX currently.

I don't remember pre-pandemic, but that's pretty standard for the past few years.

I bought mine late 2020 and they only had two on the lot, and one STi. I was originally going to buy a base model (just wanted a cheap commuter/daily) but in person the premium looked much better with the 18” wheels.

That same dealer today has 10 on the lot and will only discount $1500. Add the price increases and it’s just not worth it to upgrade.
