I'm definitely not about that anymore lol
I'll need to find new wheels then, sad cause my current ones are discontinued for over 10 years now and rare.

Do these wider tires require rolling the fenders?

18x10 +38, 275/35 RE71R, 5mm spacer up front with extended wheel studs, SPL lower control arms with AST 5100's, SuperPro Roll Center Kit. No fender work but it needs to be done, rubs in the rear. Rear camber is like -2 and the front is like -1.8, have to give a little more negative in the front. Might end up going down to a 18x9.5 and a 265 or 255..

Interesting. You really shouldn’t have to downsize.. maybe find wheels that don’t need the spacer to clear the front brakes, and with 10” wide wheels rolled fenders are pretty much needed.

Also, what spring rates are your AST’s? I have a set I’m debating on selling or installing. How’s the ride?

Default 265/40/18 on 18x9.5 +38 wheels?

I currently have some 18x9.5 +38 wheels and I'm curious if anyone's running 265/40 tires on lowering springs. I'm on RCE yellows and I know I'll need fender work done, I just want to have some input and hopefully some pictures with that setup. I know a lot of people run 265/35 but being in New York, I want the extra thickness.

Also, anyone have any personal experience with either Continental DWS 06 tires and/or Michelin A/S 3 tires? I want something that'll soak up bumps a bit better and it seems to be the DWS does a better job of that from what I've read. What do you guys think?

Yeah I'm going to have the fenders rolled and go from there.. I have 7k spring rates front and rear, I really am enjoying them. I've only ever driven on lower end coilovers and they just don't come close to the 5100's. You should install them and drive it for a while, I'm sure you'll be happy. What spring rates do you have?

I run a 265/40/18 Pilot Sport 4S on 18x9.5 -w- coilovers. You'll want to go on TireRack and probably compare how wide those other tires run vs the Pilot Sport 4S but you're definitely going to need a good roll/pull in the rear to not have rubbing. I got it pretty bad on this setup but I was a little lower than RCE Yellows. I'd probably recommend a 255/40 since you are just looking at street tires. I have some posts in this thread if you search for me.

Just go 265/35 Conti DWS06. You'll be fine.

265/40 is tall. 0.7" taller than stock to be exact. Even if it fits your car will be sitting higher and might feel a bit slower.

I appreciate the input! I was actually torn between 255/40 and 265/40 but I was curious if anyone ran 265/40. I found your post but I couldn't see the pictures for some reason. Is there any chance you can repost the pictures?

I appreciate the input! Yeah I figured 265/35 works fine but according to the discount tire size calculator, the sidewall for 265/35 is thinner shorter than it is for 245/40 and some of the bumps in NY (belt parkway, queens, fdr drive) are already loud on my 245/40 Bfgoodrich a/s tires so I figured I'd get a thicker and a softer tire. I'm okay with the performance decrease as long as it's not drastic. I just don't like how I can drive much faster in my FXT because in my WRX, I'm too concerned about when the next little, but loud, bump will be.

Are you running OEM springs or lowering springs on your setup? I dig the look and recently ordered the same wheels for my 2016 WRX

I'm thinking of getting some Titan 7 5 spoke wheels in 18x9.5 +40 265/35 tires, does anyone have pics of a 2015-2018 wrx with these wheels

Please help me out!
I'm thinking of buying a 2014 STI (MY2015) and sell my STI '09.
It's on Bilstein B12 shocks with stock top heads and Eibach springs, it dropped around 0,6 inch compared to stock suspension.

On my STI Hatch I run Rota G-force 18" 9j Offset 27 with rolled fenders and BC coils and rear Cusco lower control arms. Bridgestone Potenza S001 XL in stock size 18" 245/40

Can I run the Rota's on the current STI 2014 shock setup???

Winter is coming, and the last couple of winters in NJ have been pretty awful.

Should I be running smaller tires/larger tires for winter?

OEM spec 18 WRX runs 240/45/18 I believe. I was thinking of the Michelin X Ice Xi3 with stock wheels, then getting a summer set up later on.

Generally you want narrower tires for cutting through snow rather than climbing on top of it. But a dedicated snow/ice tire in 245 should be just fine.
