Visually it's believed to look like this based on spy shots. Definitely toned down, I like it.

You mean the Camry AWD isn't competition already? Yes it competes with a Accord, but price wise the CIVIC overlaps considerably.

I was responding to someone asking if the the next Type R was going to come with SH-AWD and I said no because it's an expensive system and the CTR is already the most expensive FWD car you can buy. I'm not clear on the relevance to the Camry or Accord. BTW Honda's basic AWD system that's a poor man's Haldex and not a performance system like Acura SH-AWD that has torque vectoring which is not cheap which is why it's only offered in Acuras and not Hondas.

Yes, standard SH-AWD on the Type R makes no sense, if they're gonna do it at all, they'd offer it in Acura form, spice up the interior and offer it for $45-48k.

But I don't think they'd do that either - can't be a big market for a $48k Civic w/ an Acura badge. At best you'll sell Golf R numbers, which probably isn't enough for Honda.

I suppose they could build the Civic Type R and on the next assembly line add AWD with different exterior/interior bits and sell it as an RSX. That way they sell enough combined to make it somewhat worth their while as well provide a reason for people under 50 years old to actually step into an Acura dealership. That way they can cancel the current NSX and pretend it never happened.

Have owned Haldex equipped VAG autos. Have owned STi. No comparison.

Agreed the Honda AWD system in the CR-V is junk.

A nicer AWD Acura CTR is the obvious choice for a Type S version of the next gen ILX.

Actually... I really DON'T like it. The excessively big air dam looks too much like what Toyota did with the Camry and Corolla. The combination of the slope of the hood and the tall-looking passenger compartment (which I'm sure gives a decent amount of interior room, especially headroom) looks odd and gives it weird proportions. I like the outgoing one better, which had a cleaner, cooler design. Just my opinion.

It looks good to me. The styling is more grown up and handsome than the 10th gen, which I like just fine as well. Lots of people on the interwebs complained that the 10th gen was over styled, well, here is Honda's reaction to that criticism.

This is just the prototype, so we'll have to see what it looks like with wheels that aren't flush with the body, but I think they did a decent job. Throw an Acura front end on it and it will look great.

I like the interior sketches a lot, I hope that's what the car ends up getting in production.

First reaction A3/Jetta.

The front facia, upper/lower grill, looks goofy. Honda will sell plenty, especially now that it doesn't have the look of a hatch (A7) and has traditional sedan looks (baby accord).

Interior, although not revealed looks good in the sketches.

public reception of upcoming cars cracks me up. Personally it’s not an “exciting” design but I think it looks pretty good. The worst reactions was with the Proto Z. Everyone was complaining about the Supra being auto and BMW influenced. That there was no ~400 hp RWD coupe with a manual. Nissan goes and designs one with a few daring design choices and everyone hates on it! people can’t decide what they want

Huge improvement over the "Hot Wheels" design of the previous one. It's a car an actual adult could be seen driving without all the high school girls pointing and laughing at the old guy, probably in his kid's car.

The lower grill is a bit much but come on. It could be BMW grill territory where there was an aftermarket front bumper/grill available aftermarket before the car could even be bought because it was so hidious.
