Some temporary bracketry to force Perrin's AOS to fit under my hood. Its so nice they can't provide a simple bracket to make it work with 93-01 imprezas. I'm hoping to make a more rigid simplified bracket in the near future. I needed to get it installed and get a bearing on my blowby issue.

No traces of oil in the pcv hoses this morning, leaves oil coming out of the front of the turbo as my only guess now

I noticed this morning the perrin check valve started whistling at idle, like a tiny supercharger. At first I thought the turbo was about to have issues then was relieved to find out it was just the check valve. I've read on iwsti that perrin was working on a solution and that they were also sending out a barbed fitting that allows you to screw the oem pcv into it and use it inline instead of the plastic check valve. I may go that route or just buy a better check valve.

Recently added a Killer B header coated by swaintech, five-0 1000cc injectors, and Steamspeed stx20g-r turbo. Got the first tune done at Corr Performance in Kenner, LA. This was 22psi with 93 octane pump fuel. I am going to try for 25psi asap, may have to upgrade my power fc to a haltech so I can run more resolution and map instead of maf.
Boost holds steady on the dyno, but on the street we can't stop boost creep which causes the powerfc to boost cut. I have a bellmouth downpipe and 3" back and am thinking of getting a grimmspeed divorced downpipe if it will help. I already have a mac three port solenoid and apexi denso 3bar boost sensor and that isn't enough to defeat boost creep. 325wtq and 319whp |

Here's more info on the issue, forgot to add it to this thread. https://forums.nasioc.com/forums/sho....php?t=2681876
Well I've run into a compatibility issue with my grimmspeed 007001 02-07 wrx downpipe and my 2011 wrx 5mt transmission. The downpipe lower tab is nowhere close enough to reach the bracket that is supposed to be hanging from the the tailshaft housing. AND the bracket I bought for wrx to at least 2010 doesn't fit the transmission. ?????????? I have part number 44021aa120 and in the compatibility chart it fits wrx from 2010 down, did the 5mt change in 2011? There is another hanger bracket part number 44021FE030 that attaches to the right side of the tailshaft housing where there are two bolt holes then it drops down to the downpipe. I just ordered it, its for the newer wrx and wrx sti and na models. HOPEFULLY the tab on the 02-07 downpipe is in the same place, Grimmspeed told me the 08+ downpipe was longer but hopefully the tab didn't move. (crosses fingers) The area the little hanger bracket is supposed to bolt to is: -way too far back -mounting bolts on tailshaft bracket won't let hanger bracket install Is there a different hanger for the 2011+? I thought 2008-11 were the same design? Last edited by 2slofouru; 03-18-2018 at 07:50 PM. |

Out of curiosity is there a new valve train for the 99 ej20k motors, I can't seem to find something for my build. They all seem to start at 2001 for the ej205 and up. Any help is appreciated

Are you referring to new valves, springs, cams, etc?

Alrighty then, it's been several years since the orignal build. Going to update this ancient thread with the specs for the current build, and hopefully gain motivation to get it going sooner than later.
As the car sits, I already was running a 2011 sti transmission and rear end with rear inner axle cups adapted with races to keep oem rear r160 axles. The clutch is a ACT 500+ wtq "street" hd and the drive shaft / propeller shaft is a DSS carbon for 93-01 models. The current exhausts is a hacked Invidia Q300, but I'm going to get a custom one built from the KillerB downpipe back to an Apexi large muffler. The goal is about 500whp with the current axles, turbo, and clutch. Eventually I may go bigger which will require better rear axles and clutch (in my opinion). This is going to be a (hopefully bearable) daily with occasional quarter mile passes to get some attention for the 1G imprezas. Here are the engine and management goodies, also in the Spoolinator thread: My longblock was done by Ken Carlson at Larry's: -AEBS sleeved and stainless o-ringed -ARP 14mm head studs -ARP case bolts -Manley 8.5:1 pistons -Manley I beam turbo tough rods -Manley upgraded wrist pins -OEM Nitrided crank -Pinned mains -Oiling mods to block -11mm oem oil pump -ej205 heads cnc'ed for 2.5 bore -All ports cnc ported with Ken's program -+1mm GSC valves and beehive springs -GSC "stage 2" cams (no avcs) ECU and peripherals, recently decided on different pump(s) and upgraded the ecu: -Haltech elite 2500 -Haltech alcohol sensor for E fuels -Deatschwerks DW300 pump in main fuel tank -Nuke 3l surge tank with DW400 pump -2000cc Injector Development injectors -IAG top feed rails with generic pulse dampers -PTFE 8AN feed from surge tank to rails -Radium venturi -Fluidampr crank pulley -ACT street HD clutch (515ftlbs) and streetlite flywheel A few pics of how the turbo and inlet fit the na manifold, more engine pics on instagram. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-mO...ew?usp=sharing https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-aC...ew?usp=sharing https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-U4...ew?usp=sharing https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-NR...ew?usp=sharing https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-NR...ew?usp=sharing https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-I-...ew?usp=sharing https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-JV...ew?usp=sharing https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-7S...ew?usp=sharing https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-7i...ew?usp=sharing https://drive.google.com/file/d/1UMO...ew?usp=sharing Last edited by 2slofouru; 11-18-2019 at 08:37 PM. |

Nice read. I forgot you were doing the spolinator and have that thread too.
Links to pics above wouldn't work for me. Edit to ask - do you plan to put your surge tank under the hood? |

Fixed the links, not sure what I did before.
Surge tank is going to be in the trunk. It has what appears to be proprietary fittings, not the typical ORB so you can't use normal O rings or ORB fittings on top. The o rings must be thin and they are sandwiched in a shallow ridge machined into the tank lid. My instagram handle is omgawdz, there are some random parts pics, tx2k pics and vids (not of my car) and corny memes Last edited by 2slofouru; 11-18-2019 at 08:38 PM. |

No idea. Having it parked at work, it's great I have access to lifts. But also being at work, it's less likely I want to stay after a long work day. Plus the deputy dog security guard always wants to come and annoy me when I stay past dealership hours.
There are some things that will go quickly once I get rolling, the main problem is the constant searching for random little fittings. Since I can't see them in person before buying, a lot of time is wasted on ordering them and finding out some won't fit or just are crappy quality. I've also decided on running an electric steering pump and that's added a little more work, but it will allow the turbo inlet all the space it needs. Also will allow the alternator belt to wrap almost all the way around so I don't have to tighten it as much and it won't slip and will last longer. Focusing on tiny details like that is also making it take longer. Sucks I don't have my own garage or it would probably be running by now. |
