Default Wife needs new car..suggestions?

Well the wifes Blazer is on it's last legs. The autonation dealer says there is nothing wrong with it except the non-gm spark plug wires they wanted to change the last time the car was in the shop for the tune of $1300.

The car hesitates (trans slip) upon start up and the other day on the highway it wouldn't upshift and got stuck in 2nd and would not go over 45. But "there nothing wrong with it"

So we are going to be in the market for a new ride in the $30,000 range. I think she wants a SUV but I'm not to sure. I pointed out the Forester to her and she only had a luke warm response. Also in play are the Jeep Liberty, Land Rover Freelander, Maybe Toyota Rav 4, but I'm no fan of Toyota.

It doesn't hurt if there is rebates and special financing to be had out there either.

Not on the list: Honda CRV, Ford Escape, Chevy equinox, or saturn.

Anything alse the OT can suggest?

Ok, just have your wife TEST drive the forester. The Freelander and Rav 4 didnt do to well in some of the car and driver tests.
I think the Jeep liberty did ok in the test.

Other than SUV would be fine I think I can at least make the suggestion. On that front I think I may say Legacy.

I was thinking Honda Pilot but a EX with leather is $32,000 and that may be a little to much because Honda has no special financing.

Second the Nissan Pathfinder. Also look at the previous generation of 01-04, I like the look better and the engine is still a decent 250hp/260tq from a 3.5.

If she's stuck on the SUV, go with the Rover.

Default Hmm...

Forester XT= sleeper for you, safety for her...
http://www.drivingsports.com/a/templ...id=53&zoneid=3

Forester XT= "Safest small SUV EVER tested" - Insurance Institute for Highway Safety

Forester XT= power, hauling capacity, maneuverability

Forester X or XS= good mileage, safety, a GIANT HOLE in the roof (XS premium) although you can get the GIANT HOLE in the roof on the XT premium package as well.

Economy? Rebates and deals on the Forester including some money saving tips in this thread...

I may be a little biased, but overall, you can't go wrong.

You don't live anywhere near me so get her the SUV.

Don't let her wander out to the North East, please.
