Default Finally found the wife a new car

Put down the deposit today,

Black Mazda 3i Touring, 5-seed, with the ABS package floormats

We looked for 3 months for a used one, but found nothing worth buying, finally just gave up and bought new.

I almost bought a 3S SE back in August when I got my GT, so now I sorta get to drive both lol

Hey, at least it's better then the corolla she wanted.

Nope, that one was all the way in quincy was used, and didn't have the touring ppackage (hence no cruise)

This one is brandy new, 20 miles on the clock (well 40 after the test drive)

Nice choice!

-Back when I was shopping for my P5, it was really hard finding one with the ABS & side airbag package. Did you have the same trouble when looking for the 3?

New no, seems the touring ackage is readily available,

Used, 5 speeds are near impossible to come by in the 3i, our sales person said she has seen 3 come through their dealer in the last 2 years, one of which she bought.

And any of the used ones I have found were sans cruise

If you don't mind, what did you end up paying for it?
I'm starting to shop for a better "mpg" car than my wifes Vehicross, seeing that she justgot a new job this week that is 30 miles one way.

Higher then I was expecting,

Since my wife had to have cruise (for her 3 mi trip to the post office and back) which means we get kicked up to the touring package (16" alloys, cruise, A/C, Keyless Entry, also added in ABS with EBD). Sticker came to 16,995, we paid 16,695. At all the mazda dealers I have dealt with, this 300-400 off is the norm, cause they almost never get the 5 speeds back used.

That being said they also gave us 300 for our rust riddin' 160kmi knocking like paris hilton in a vegas hotel room 1996 Geo Prisim, which was abount 100 more then any other dealer.

All in all, didn't get a screaming under invoice deal, but it was fairly painless, and it was the car she wanted, which is what mattered most. Now she has a reliable 35mpg car (that I get to beat on when I feel like it)

Seeing as her commute is way shorter than yours, shouldn't she get the Legacy, and you get the more fuel efficient Mazda Three ?

Now now, that would make waaaaay too much sense now wouldn't it.

I do plan to take it one day a week, maybe then I can keep the milage on the legacy around 20k a year. In another year we'll be moving closer to work, so it won't be as bad anyways.

If I had a 3 mile commute I'd get a bicycle and a warm jacket but the 3i is a great car. I wish the hatchback was offered in that spec.

A woman that wants to drive a manual can have anything she wants, IMO. My wife wants a Volvo V50 T5 6-speed. Can't quite afford that one yet.
