Default Alcoholics Anonymous

This is cool that we now have a sub-forum to help our cars deal with this addiction. Chime in if your car has become an Alky... or a tea totaler (water injection) that may fall off the wagon some day

Post a little bit about your setup and I'll keep a running total of who has what system.

tribalwrx, RaiN, aprazma and whomever at ULTIMATE CC

A little bit off the subject since I don't have my kit yet. At what PSI (boost level) did you set your Alky/Meth/Water system to kick-in, (4psi, 5psi, 6psi???) cut-out? What the lowest PSI level (on-set of boost I hope) can you set the system? I don't mind using more Alky/Meth/Water mixture to get an early low-end kick in the pants.

My birthday's March 11th and this is going to be me and my wife's birthday present to me. Want ta fall off the wagon something fierce.

04 STi deadbolt td06 20g homebrew kit soon to be replaced with an smc kit.
dyno'd 309 on a mustang(stock sti's pull 220's). i believe we were running 21.5psi.
we ran into some dire surging issues and called it a night.
hence the upcoming switch to something with a progressive controler.
running 50% denatured and 50% washerfluid.
running utec now, swapping to accessport quite soon.

The rule of thumb for onset boost in most cases is about a 1/3 of your max boost, I run it on my evo so I have it turn on at 9lbs. It doesn't have to be exact but its a good place to start and you (or your tuner) can adjust from there.

I don't think it's necessary to list EM in the table. The type of EM is not an important part of the equation, only that it's tunable to take full advantage of the water/alky injection benefits.

Banzai and CC,

Thank You for your input. General Consensus looks to be a 5-7 psi setting before the system becomes active (spraying) for most with typical WRX Stage-4 (me, sorry I didn't state my set-up in the initial question) modifications. STI's look to be similar. I've also found other posts from different threads on NASIOC & IWSTI recently that seem to support the "1/3 of total boost before activation" rule.

Thanks again,

Supremo

EM is very important in some cases as it can decide what type of kit you should run and if you really need failsafes and if so what kind.

I agree. One use I can think of is the FIA2 of the Aquamist is 'possibly' not cooperating with the Hydra and since Phil's integrated kit is still in the works, it'd be nice ot see what other fellow Hydra users are currently using for water injection.

If EM is listed then I don't have to bug each of you Although I can find out in other threads and I actually know what EM system most all of the people on the list are using - someone else may not...

(Note I say possibly because I am aware of one person having an issue and have not been able to find evidence of anyone else successfully driving the FIA2 off of an injector signal from the Hydra... nor have I come across info detailed enough for me to feel comfortable diving into controlling the HSV via PWM map... Note to Phil - the demand is here - I have money burning a hole in my pocket that Garret is trying to swindle out of me j/k... kinda)
