The stewards don't agree with you - they definitely take past behaviors/warnings into account when they evaluate events. They say it all the time.
His stupidity here could very easily come back to haunt him next season in a questionable event.

I'm a JPM guy. F1, all around, probably needs more Max. In that sense, I'm a fan if the sport moves that way. But I'm sorry, I just don't understand how one can look at Ocon's move on Max, vs. what he does every damn weekend, and see big distinctions. You have every right to unlap yourself (imagine if Lewis had a puncture early and was moving around a Williams to unlap himself). If you race (and apparently you do), while it's one thing to have awareness of position/standing/etc., you also act on instinct a lot, and a FI on a RB is close enough that I think he has every right to fight for position when he's faster. If nothing else, the bias/kid gloves from the commentators showed today defending Max's driving style was blatantly obvious (well, if Ocon had not regained, the stewards may have tagged him). Again, I think F1 needs guys like Max...but then treat everyone the same. He's so aggressive out there, people just steer clear of him. That doesn't make his moves better, people just fear crashing out. Max ALWAYS dumps it in too far, runs wide and forces guys to decide between ending their race of backing out of their position. Just be consistent. If you want to support what Max is doing, then it needs to go across the board imho. "The rest" aren't allowed to pull the same stuff that Max does. That's ****. Makes for **** racing/regulating. Last edited by SoapBox; 11-25-2018 at 09:42 PM. |
