I'm not trying to diss his road racing career

Argument was that he prob never experienced the "fake drifting"

Greg
I never said anything of the sort. I simply stated that I don't think you know who Hoppe is if you think he's never set foot in an AWD car I've actually ridden in Hoppe's old WRX.

Personally, I think the video was cool regardless of what you want to call it... gymkhana, drifting, or just plain ol' hoonage. I think KC and Hoppe are too uptight about it because they let the word "gymkhana" offend their delicate AutoX-ing sensibilities. But I also think you don't know who you're calling out if you're only looking at the Integra listed in his profile

I'd also like to see more of Ken doing stuff like this and less of Ken flying through the air in his car

Hey now! KC is uptight cause he's an old man.

I'm just a conformist when it comes to being uptight on the internet. Plus it makes for a fun Thursday early-afternoon

Frankly, I think Greg got his panties in a wad because some people didn't think it was as cool as he thought.

When I go to an auto show, I'm not drooling over some cars like STis and Evos and Z06s because I am around them all the time, and have driven them. Meanwhile, the general public is lining up to sit in them and have their pictures taken with them. Does that make me a bad person? Does that make me "not a car person"?

So the video didn't thrill everyone. It looked like fun, but.... <shrug>. Deal with the opinions of others and move on. Calling them out on their manhood and the type of car you think they drive is just ridiculous.

That's the problem with tTH... he's got enough trouble keeping his sloooooow Acura Integra from hitting stuff. Hell, his car doesn't even have AWD or a Turbo! I bet there no way Ev4R that he could race like the guy in teh Video. Did you see the way he attacked time!?!?!? OMG!!1

Wow Karen - You nailed it

I'm that guy. I go to Autoshows and take pics in STIs and drool later

Sorry to break it to you sweetheart but both of your Z28 are just horrible cars and are as sporty as a horse carriages. You wouldn't see me in one if you paid me. Yes they got some HP but that's about it. The rest is crap.

And I bet your WRX is an automatic too and you got that because it was "Cool"

Tell me what AWD 400hp car have you driven? Or even sat in?

I've driven some powerful rally cars and I can relate to this video

If this video doesn't excite you it's because you have no idea what it feels like to drive a car like that

This isn't in OT, so I'll play nice.

The video is the equivalent of me going to play in a local snow covered parking lot. Yes, it's fun, yes, it looks cool, but it shouldn't be taken as anything beyond that.

and Karen, I'm with you on that one. After you have had a car that is #3 of 5, that sold for $4.5 mil 10 ft from your desk for 1.5 years, not much gets your attention.

Depends.... do you go to car shows and drool over Hummers, Mercedes G series, etc? If so, THAT makes you "not a car person". Your general apathy towards "cool" cars does not.

With that said, it doesn't matter how much time I spend around Porsches, I still find myself fascinated with them.

....again

NOT THE SAME TYPE OF DRIVING

Playing nice around the race track in borrowed car and tearing it up are two things that are just not anywhere near each other

Same goes for the earlier comparison to a snow covered parking lot.
NOT EVEN CLOSE

Heh, Greg, give it up. Ppl complaining about this Block video, well...to me that smacks of sour grapes, that's all.

Obviously KB was having a blast beating up on those BFG R-compounds, so just enjoy the vid on your own and let the whiners eat their grapes.

LOVED the shot where he driiiiiifts so long around the hairpin and just barely tags the back going out. Now that's real drivin! It's a level of commitment most ppl have no idea about. And to see him do the same out on a rally stage where blowing the move would launch him out in the trees or boulders, well whoa!
