Apparently this wasn't covered under warranty as it was a spider inside the emissions filter which the local dealership charged $214 to wipe off.

Unfortunately, it wasn't covered--"act of nature"--charge was $214 to remove a spider's cocoon from the emissions filter.

Hmm that sucks. When we clear out spider condo's it completely under warranty. Even if it comes back with a new web it's under warranty. I would call Subaru on that and question the charge. Maybe we good will it or something but asking doesn't hurt. Not only that but the spider condo on the new wrx isn't the same as ones in the past. It can still cause a code but it would have to be a pretty good web in there which I've rarely seen but I'm sure I could happen. Hopefully it stays away.

Default Could it be that I need 5.5k work on cylinders???

The car runs fine, though it's gas mileage has slipped a bit recently. 24.3 to 22.6, but temps been in the single digits when I drive in the am. 2008, 105k miles, I bought it in 2010 with 50k, wrx turbo, stock all. Don't drive it really hard, though I enjoy what it can do.

I've been having these lights come on for awhile. I recently changed my headunit and of course had to disconnect the battery, and ever since then I haven't had any lights come on. so I would recommend trying that, couldn't hurt

I will. It's sitting at the dealer now while I decide what to do. Still owe 8 grand on it too. Sigh. I'll try resetting it.

I just did a spark plug and wire change on the car. I also replaced the air filter. When I started the car I got those same lights. I will check the plug on the mass on the air filter to see if it will fix it. All I know is that the car is running worse than prior to the tune up.

Do I need to reset the computer? YES I DO> I disconnected the ground on the battery and held the brake down for about 25 seconds. Reconnected the battery and started it up, lights are cleared and car running fine now.

Also, for those that do not know. If you get a check engine light the traction light will come on and the cruise light will blink this is normal for the Subaru.

This happened to me a couple nights ago. I went WOT through 2nd and 3rd and at the top of 3rd gear I heard what sounded like afterfire. I looked down at my dash and noticed the check engine and traction control lights were on, as well as my cruise light flashing. The car didn't seem to be in any kind of "limp" mode. It was driving normally.

The next morning, I tightened the gas cap as some on this thread suggested. Didn't really seem to tighten since it just kept clicking. But that did the trick! All the dash lights returned to normal when I started the car.

I'm not too sure of the exact reason it happened in the first place as after fueling, I always turn the gas cap 360 degrees after the clicking starts. But I did realize that I was low on fuel (probably drove about 10 miles after the gas light had turned on) and it was about 45 degrees F out the night it happened.

Just thought I would share

I just had the same issue. Did a little research, tightened my gas cap, but went ahead and dropped off at the dealership to check it as it is only a couple of miles from my house. It was in fact the code for a loose gas cap. They reset the codes to turn them off. So its ready to pick up at no charge.

If I had driven it a bit longer would they lights have gone off I wonder??

Well when the light comes back tell them you'll save them some time and tell them to order an engine harness.

Default Had same problem!

Man i'm so grateful for NASIOC! I nearly freaked out, all the lights came on and the bilking cruise light, I didn't know what to think. I'll try the gas cap fix in the morning, if not I'll take it in since it's still under warranty.

Default p0852

Hey so I'm reading through this and I'm getting the same thing (sort of) I went to advanced and I got the code p0852. Happened to me when I was driving fairly hard but nothing extreme I would say. Also can advance clear the codes to see if it won't come back on or would it go off on its own if the gas cap was fixed? If anyone has any advice about this code that I'm getting I'd really appreciate it.

Yes I am. All you people really need to stop thinking because your cel is on it means your gas cap is loose.

Second you went a step farther then most here and actually pulled the code. Now search the code and see what it is telling you is bad.

Third your asking questions and don't have your car info filled out. For all we know you Vance a Chevy cavalier.

if that code is correct---this is VERY IMPORTANT

then the gas cap wont matter a bit

and I find it IMPOSSIBLE.....TOTALLY impossible that people in 2015 have not figured out how to use the ****ing internet to find such easy information out about things

im just ASTOUNDED that these things continue to be any sort of issue at all

Not the worse thread-necro ever, but I'm getting the lights, but no codes when I read it with my accessport. Anyone seen that before? I've reset the ecu a couple times and it has come back a few days later. I'm going to try and go easy on it to see if it might be overboost problems, but i find it weird there are 0 codes every time it happens.

It is the mass air meter on top of the air intake tube connecting out to the air box.

Most likely a lose, open or short.
Jiggling the wires should cause the fault lights to clear on the next restart.

Turn engine off, jiggle wires/ reseat connector, restart and the fault lights will be extinguished. Hope this helps !!
