Default is there anything wrong with using a ej255 sb for a hybrid build?

i'm trying to purchase a 2.5 sb for a hybrid build and i got a friend that has a ej255 from his 06-07 wrx. it's pretty clear that the ej257 and ej255 is pretty much the same but i just wanted to confirm this with the professionals before i make this purchase.

is there anything wrong with using a 06-07 wrx shortblock for a hybrid build instead of a ej257? i will be replacing the internals so that shouldn't be the problem. please advise thanks!

i was thinking it was the same block, just different pistons, so if you did the hybrid build, and used forged pistons, and 257 heads i think it would just make it a 257, floating around somewhere they have the block codes you can check and see if they are the same

cases are the same. Pistons are different between the 255 and 257.
