Default GM trims Pontiac to just one model for 2010

http://www.leftlanenews.com/gm-trims...-for-2010.html

Quote:
In its last year in existence, the historic Pontiac brand won’t go out with much of a bang. Parent company General Motors has announced that only the Toyota-built Pontiac Vibe will be available to consumers hoping to get their last taste of the more than 80-year-old “driving excitement” brand.

Pontiac had already announced the departure of the performance-oriented G8 flagship, but we’ve now learned that the brand’s two rebadged models, the G3 (Chevrolet Aveo-based) and G5 (Chevrolet Cobalt-based) will be killed off for good and the mainstream G6 sedan will only be available to government, corporate and rental fleet buyers.

The Vibe, built in California by the GM-Toyota NUMMI joint venture, continues mostly unchanged for the new model year. Air conditioning will now be standard, instead of optional, a luggage rack shows up as an option on all-wheel-drive variants and a new Ignition Orange exterior shade replaces Mystic Blue metallic.

Too bad you hate the interior.

Stinks for parts. One of my primary likes about having a WRX was the community in which for example, I could find a barely used A/C compressor for $40 shipped.

Thankfully the 100,000 mile warranty will cover the big stuff.

No more G8's. That includes the V6, GT and GXP. The plant in Australia ceased making G8's awhile back.

And the transmission, but that's for another thread....

I like the car, it's just not for me.

Well ya know Parfume on a Pig doesn't make it smell any better it's just the same smell covered by more stink.

Chevy - Pig / Pontiac - Parfume .....LOL

If they made a better product and sold it for what it was worth this never would have happened in the first place.

For the US... they're done. The final Base and GT's are being delivered to dealers. The GXP's will be another rarity as they only made 1828 of them and with the new fuel efficient laws taking effect, chances are they will not be in any other brand. The Base and GT's may be seen in another brand but the chances of a V8 is slim to none.

Get 'em while you can.

LOL all the cars from new Transformers aren't even going to be available!

I really don't understand the lingering of the Pontiac name, why take it this far and not just axe the brand? Doesn't make sense, just put the damn company down once and for all.

You get an additional rebate: Loyalty rebate. And supposedly GM will honor market value trade for GM vehicles when you purchase a new one. Doesn't hurt to try...

Yes, they call it a Camaro

I really wish they would keep the solstice coupe in the form of the Saturn Sky. The Sky's look better anyways.

I thought the Solstice/Sky were originally Opels. If so, can they keep them? I'd guess not since Saturn is losing its Opel models.

Solstice was first. American only. Then they sent it to Europe to sell more of the platform. Opel restyled it and made the GT. It was so popular, the style was used as the Sky in the US market.
