Thumbs up Would anyone like to be in a movie? With their car? Read on.......

Here is a chance for some very lucky individuals to get their face, and Subaru, on film for the rest of eternity.

Universal Pictures is in post production for a movie called "Redline." This movie is based on the street racing culture of southern California and will include imports. I met a representative of Universal Pictures at an import car show last month. His name is Dale Benson. He is looking for car clubs that would be willing to show up at the old Nortan Air Force base in San Bernardino on Sept. 17 and 22. Each car club that participates will recieve payment for its efforts. I have reproduced the flyer for anyone that is interested. Please see below......

"organization Info.

We are looking for people to attend our filming on dates; Sept. 17 and Sept. 22, at the old Nortan Air Force Base, San Bernardino.

General Public:
Sept. 17, attendance starts at 9:00 AM
Sept. 22, attendance starts at 11:00 AM

Each organization will have a different schedule time frame for attendance which will be staggered, so there is a constant flow of people committed. Our offices will designate your scheduled times.

For your assistance in creating our "audience", Universal Pictures will donate to your organization, $4.00 per volunteer in attendance on either of the days filming.

Besides being enthusiastic, your responsibilities will include:

-contacting your members for committment of attendance. (We have included a posting bulletin for your convenience.)
-selecting a group leader for every 25 volunteers. She/he will:
*act as a spokesperson for your organization and will work closely with our production staff.
*stay with their 25 volunteers in positioning for the camera.
*verify names on your attendance sheet so we all will have an accurate count for check issue after filming. A master sheet for photocopying in included.

Lite lunch and refreshments will be provided, along with prize drawings throughout the day or night. Dress is casual for each day of filming. The film audience is from 18-25 years of age.

Welcome to the motion picture "Redline". If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to contact Dale Benson at (818)733-2720.

Please, no one under 18 years of age."

Well, that's it. I can't be in the filming because I am 39 years old. But I am willing to let someone drive my supercharged/intercooled RS for the shooting. Let me know if any of you on the list are interested. Thanks. ARG

I'm all over it man, sign me up. I've been wanting to make a movie like this myself for years. I hope Hollywood dosen't bastardize the street racing scene into some cheezy lamer farse. I hope they keep it real. I hope I can be in it!

Edit - do you know any more specifics of the film (i.e. plot)? I remember talking to you at the Showoff and you mentioned something about it.

Wink

Yeah, there are plenty of 39 year old street racers... aren't there?

No, probably not. Most people are either serving time or smart enough to know better by then.

Have a Nice Day?

Well, according to the flyer, the audience is between 18-25 years old. Now I don't know if that means the target audience, or the prefered age of the "extras" that will be used as scene fillers. I guess I could play a Highway Patrol officer, or a homeless person.
I guess most people my age should be driving Crown Victorias or Sedan DeVilles.
That would really suck if I can't even be seen in the film because of my age. Hell, I'm even willing to shave my head and wear baggy pants.

I just want to get my Subie in the film.

If we can get at least one Subie sideways in the film, that would be enough. I'm going to see if I can convince someone at Universal Pictures to film a scene like that. Anyone know how to do a perfect drift on asphalt? Anyone need to use up their RE-92s?

Last time I checked, Hondas and Mustangs don't drift very well.

As soon as I get some more info from Universal, I will begin to make up a list of people that can, and will, definitely show up for the filming. Nothing pisses off a production company more than "no shows". It would be nice if this movie becomes a classic like Bullit, Vanishing Point, or Ronin for its car scenes.

Here's the plot courtesy of http://www.imdb.com : "Undercover cops infiltrate Manhattan street racers to bust a hijacking ring."

Sounds really original ;-) har har

As long as this doesn't turn out like the oil filter hoax I'm in and since I am in the Air Force and it's being held at an old Air Force Base it only seems right.

"Manhattan street racers" ??? There aren't any, unless they mean the Ruff Ryders guys who fly down Broadway on their crazy bikes at 80mph and 10,000rpm.
