Storing winter tires.. Used vs. New
I bought a set of Dunlop M3's last Nov. I was planning on mounting them on stock rims. But only 3 days before the scheduled date, my wife got my car into a minor accident. My car has been in the shop ever since, due to stupid logistic problems.
Now here's my dilema. This winter turned out to be ridiculously warm so far, and it's already in the middle of january. I don't mind mounting the M3's right now in terms of cost, as that's what I'll have to do sooner or later. The problem is that it seems like there will be so little use for them this winter. So my question is, do used winter tires "age"? In other words, do they deteriorate just by sitting in the garage? Is it really better to store them brand new? I ask because someone told me this long time ago. Thanks guys. P.S. I still have my stock tires that I can use over this winter. |
