Sold the S2000, Need car shipping advice.
So the S2000 officially has a new owner in Irvine CA and now I'm trying to weed through the good and the bad when it comes to shipping company's.
The guy who bought the car talked with a friend and he said http://www.autotransportdirect.com are good but hasn't used them in nearly 2 years so who knows how they are now. The quote from them is 725 MD-->Socal. Has anyone used one of these service recently? Is there anything special I need to do to the car before it travels 3k+ miles on a open trailer? Thanks! -Nick

I always wanted an s2k but after my bro got one i dont think i want one anymore. What car are you getting now? |

Haha it was about average for me. I had my WRX over 2 years longest ownership for me. I think that means something

That is why mine didn't really do it for me. I loved it during sunny summer afternoons but beyond that it was really a waste of space and $$$. I need something fun and be able to haul my bike or kayak or even both.........Outback XT?

Just the double boxing technique and tape every seam twice.
Oh yeah, and those air bladders are pointless... Just use regular peanuts. |

No the car was fine and it was an open 3 car trailer. They def didn't take it for a joyride because the entire time it was being transported to me, they drove through a snow storm. The transport came with insurance included so if it did get messed up, its covered so I wasn't really too worried about it |

Congrats, Nick. Although, I was hoping you would keep your car until I could buy it :P
I used Angels Moving Autos when I had my car shipped to me. They had a lot of trouble getting the car on and off the trailer- even at stock ride height. Plus, I waited two hours for them at the agreed upon location. They had the lowest quote, but I would probably choose a different company second time around. Do your research and read reviews... Good luck. |

I'd offer to drive it, but I know that's not the best idea. 1) I'm not insured for commercial transport. 2) You likely don't want that kind of car driving long distances. 3) The reaction you likely had to reading this "who the hell are you". 4)It would likely cost more for me to drive the car (gas, lodging, return flight) to deliver the car than what your finding from various companies.
I just need a 'paid' excuse for a road trip right now. |

I actually thought it would be a fun road trip to drive it out there but didn't want to put and extra 3k miles and possible rock chips all over the thing. Pick-up is tomorrow I hope she can make it up on the trailer.

I've driven cars cross-country for people before. I drove a Miata from Portland, OR to Chantilly, VA for a guy who was planning to drop an LS1 into the car. I have a pretty exemplary record for driving cross-country multiple times, but I can only do it during the summer (when I have off work).

<- got the new M3 from Utah to Philadelphia. But I have no interest in doing that again. Maybe for a mint '93 RX7 R1.
My research led me to Reliable Carriers, but since it was kind of an obscure location it took them a week to get a truck in the area and he couldn't be there when the seller was available. So I said F* it, I'll just fly out there and drive it back. Iowa is really wide. |

I'll bet the polygamists were tearing it up in the back seat of that M3.
