Default Wrx Hatchback rear foglight

OK So seeing this car inspiried me to add a rear foglight for my 2013 WRX

I just ordered this from ebay and Ill do a write up on it, should be pretty be pretty straight forward:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=140899894960
Its all red and Im going to tint it , but they also make them clear as well

1st remove your outsude taillight using a big Phillips head screwdrivier, electrical tape, grab some extra speaker wire along with (2) wire taps, (2) zip ties and (2) but connecters for the wire. You will need the but connecters so extend the ligth wires to reach the taillight harness, and the ire taps to tap into the Green(power wire) and Black(ground) of the 194 bulb connection in the taillight harness. the zip tires are to secure the wires to anything you see fitting to hold the wires in place so there isnt any issues in the future, same as the electrical tape, make sure you wrap all 4 connections to insure that no moisture gets into your wiring.

So I Started by measing the rear section which on the top side is 4", So I cleaned off:

And I was undecided to run the light i bought Horizontally bc it just flowed better in my eyes light the 2 rear reflectors:

I measured for the center bolt whole to be 2" centered and about 3/4" down from the center point:

Then i drilled 2 holes, one for the wiring(3 wires) and one for the center mounting bolt:

I had some extra double sided tape from one of my old Hid ballasts so I trimmed it to fit:

Then I extended the wires with some extra speaker wire I had lying around and cripped and taped them up with electrical tape, for the power I tapped into the 194 bulb on the passenger outside taillight. You can use either the driverside or passanger side.

There are 3 wires that came with my light, Blue(dimmer lighting), Red (brighter lighting), and black for ground, I selected to use the dimmer light(I liked it for my application, its up to you for your application)
I then tightned down the 10mm bolt and washer that it came with, then tested it out off and on, I just did it so I dont have a night shot yet but I will add some when it gets darker out.
ON:

There you go Ladies and Gents, its not too difficult.. But it is a nice simple exterior mod !!

Thought about it... Wouldn't be hard except for cutting the bumper cover and mounting the LED panel to leave nice finished edges. Its light enough that you could just mount it right to the bumper cover, then just wire it into one of the brake lights so it comes on with the running light.

That's pretty awesome, ever thought of wiring it into your foglight switch so it isn't always on?

My A4 has a rear fog light that makes one of the tail lights extra bright, flipping that on is always great for getting tailgaters to slam on their brakes.

glad you're not one the a-holes that runs with the rear fog on constantly. Every time i see one of those i want to smash their lights.

not sure i like the center light, but it might be interesting to get the reflectors in the lower bumper to light up.

Look at those tail lights. They look great. Different approach than the standard paint/overlay technique that everyone uses.

Those tail lights were cracked open and painted on the inside I believe. That's what I want to do to give the light that dark shade but still have a transparent effect.

Also I'm more interested in that spoiler than that fog light mod lol.

x eleventybillion. I'd venture to guess that most of the said drivers do not even realize they have a rear fog, nor they are able to comprehend the complicated logical link that FOG lighs are meant for FOG.

I've found the problem with the WRX fog lights is they don't really help all that much in fog, they don't even provide that much more light out of fog.

My audi's make a HUGE difference between when they're on and off.

I've never altered the subie's fog lights either, so I don't know if it's a bad factory aim or they are just too diffuse to actually do anything.

I installed a rear fog in my hatch a few months back. I used a different LED light I found on ebay, This light, and wired it up to an independent switch. I had to cut up the housing and seal it with silicone to get it to fit in that spot of the bumper.

Girion: A huge majority of factory-installed front fogs is for pure decoration. The bugeye had somewhat decent ones, my 08's are totally useless. Converted them to DRLs, at least now they have some purpose.
Atf78 - fantastic job...

Scrolling through another fog light thread and someone just happen to be selling it!! I wired it up to the factory fog light switch. So it turns on with front fogs.

THIS!

My sister had an A4 and IIRC, in order to turn on the rear fog you had to first rotate the headlight switch to turn on the lights then pull the knob out wards one click to turn the front fogs on and then to the second click to turn on the rears. How these people drive around all the damn time with the rears on is beyond me.

My old Volvo had a dedicated switch for the rear fogs. Way better solution I think.
