Angry clutch pedal problems on my 08 wrx...

Im sure this has been brought up before, and well here it goes. First off my car is 100% stock only aftermarket parts are RallyArmor mud flaps. Also my car has never been abused, beaten, or anything along those lines its my DD.

Now my clutch pedal assembly moves about 1-2 inches back and fourth along with my break pedal. So being a newer car I figured just a loose bolt or something simple. I was wrong, after taking a closer look I realized that the welds that hold the assembly have completely separated.

In stead of biting the bullet and spending my cash for a factory defect, I want to see if SOA can do something for there mess up. Worst comes to worse ill pay for the fix,but am going to fight this as much as I can for something that I had no control in breaking.

I am going in for an inspection at my local Subaru dealer tomorrow to see what there "professional" opinion is.

Ive called SOA and am having an investigation done, because what Ive found is that its a known problem, but SOA has done nothing to solve this problem. Ive heard of dealers completely ignoring customers, or even telling them not to come back after finding this problem.

I will post more tomorrow after I speak with SOA and hopefully I can help others in my same situation, and maybe even get a recall going for the defected cars.

Made it a little easier to read haha

I had not heard about this before the last week or two, but I've had two customers ask me about it recently. Both have 2008 WRX and STi cars. Both said the welds holding the clutch/brake pedal bracket to the firewall have cracked.

It's a common problem just google 'wrx popping clutch pedal firewall'. I think my 2013 STI has it. My clutch pedal pops when the pedal hits the floor and there is slight movement in the brake pedal when depressing on the clutch pedal. The spot welds on the firewall break very easily and it was supposedly addressed in 2010 but it doesn't sound like they put a lot of effort into quality control here.

Yes both are gone, as my inspection paper from Subaru notes, im awaiting a call from SOA to further attend to this problem. Hopefully it will be a recall issue and maybe SOA can throw me some goodies for my time lol.

This thread was very useful for me - http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=2184210

Dealer ended up re-welding the firewall for me at no cost, all fine now

I just got the letters from SOA saying that they will re-weld, and give pay for everything.

I can post pics of the service papers and all, but if you have this problem it is a must that you have the dealer put it on paper that the welds have been destroyed/broken or SOA wont do a thing. All my local dealers were no help at all besides the Fairfield dealer. They inspected my car at no charge and also contacted SOA to get this rolling. I will be bringing my car in later this week to have them re-weld it and SOA is sending me a check in the mail for the exact price of the service.

This actually happened recently to me on my 03 WRX. Luckily I had a spare in the garage and just swapped it out.

Here is the big issue; this is the weld after it has broken on my 2009 WRX. I recently had it rewelded along with the two points underneath the windshield wiper motor. All three welds were gone and it's now fixed.

No problem. People need to see this stuff...I talked to a Subaru tech and this is more widespread than SOA would like to admit. Faulty design!

I recently found myself the proud owner of a Wrx with this issue. I found this resource to file a complaint with the NHTSA (Government agency). Read through the other complaints. You will find the same problems we are all having. Most importantly file your claim!
