Keep stock catback then--can go stage 2 with AF DP and stock exhaust (I believe so at least)

I've been looking into it. Adding the bellmouth and taking out the cats should help spool, but the the exhaust tapers back into smaller piping. Has anyone done this yet? Does it sound good? I can't find anything on youtube.

in this clip, the exhaust setup was:

- 3in bellmouth DP catless
- stock ej18 midpipe
- 2.25in custom axelback pipe
- Magnaflow muffler

little loud and raspy, now i'm driving around with an STP 3in Midpipe and still the custom axelback,, i'll post a clip soon...

A lot of the sound has to do with the mufflers. I believe if you got a custom mid pipe (for better flow) and fit that to your stock mufflers, add a catted DP--you shouldn't attract too much unwanted attention but still the power benefits.

I'm impressed. They do still look a lot more mainstream then other subies, but they really do pretty up when some exterior mods get put on. I guess that's kinda the case with all subarus though. I knew it was true with the hatches, but sedans I thought were gunna have a more difficult time. Some wheels and a drop though and your looking good guys!

I think I might give it a try, if I don't like it, I can put it back to stock. I have to wait till I get some more dough.

I guess that when Subaru did the refresh for 09, they put the wing on all WRXs to differentiate more from the 2.5GT. 08s, on the other hand, could be had wingless and aero-kitless, with a wing but no aero, and with a wing and aero. My base 08 has a wing, but no aero. I think only premiums had both the wing and aero.

post pics please!! i was seriously considering some of the RA flaps but some flaps don't look great on the car...i think they'd be more practical than getting the molding from subaru.

The molding looks nice but I'm sure they aren't as good as the RA's. And you need to have the base 08 for them (unless you have one)

My old 05 WRX 2.0L had a VF34 (276whp @ 19 psi), turboXS shorty DP 3" to Mid Pipe 2.5" (was called a Stealthback) to stock mufflers. The dyno difference was minor, nothing you could feel. The sound was basically silent but you hear it spool bc of the DP. Exhausts sound nice till they drown on the highway.

I'm sure he's fooling a lot of people with that screen name and signature

I'm sure he's just making a contribution to the community.

These new WRX sedans are growing on me. They look sick with a drop and wheels. Kudos to you dudes!
