Default Blouch 16gxtr 7cm?

I wasn't sure where to post this so sorry in advanced...

There's a fella selling a Blouch 16gxtr online. I asked what turbine housing it had and he claims its a 7cm and showed me a picture of the casting mold and it clearly says 7.

I'm under the impression that Blouch didn't make the xtr in that small of a turbine housing? I tried calling Mike but he's not going to be back into the shop until next Monday so thought I would ask here.

Doing some research I know there's a difference on how the coolant lines are ran on the BB version vs. the journal bearing. From what I can see this the coolant lines are on opposite side of the CHRA. So it seems this guy has a 7cm 16gXTR. Did Blouch make such a combo at some point?

I'm waiting for some more pictures of the Garrett plate that should be on the side of the housing...and I'm still waiting.

Thanks for any input.

Well I just got some pictures of the center and it definitely has a BB center. Anyone ever seen a 7cm 16gxtr? Or am I crazy and at one time Bouch offered this?

I just made another thread there. I'd like to buy this thing but I want to check and make sure this turbo could have ever been produced before I buy.

I had a Blouch small 16G 7cm housing (don't make it anymore - bought it about 5 years ago). A couple of years ago, I upgraded to a Blouch 18G XT-R 8cm. The shop that did the install and tune told me if I didn't like the 8cm housing, that they could swap my old 7cm housing from the small 16G to the 18G XT-R. I was fine with the 8cm housing, so I didn't make the swap.

I assume that what they told me was possible, and if it is, I'm sure someone could request Blouch to do it as a special order. So, it could be a special order original from Blouch, or someone did it after the fact (similar to my story).

That's interesting to know. I'm just curious as to why Blouch never offered it, especially for the 2.0 guys.

Only Blouch could answer that. But, my opinion is that I would want an 8cm vs a 7cm housing on a 16G XTR. The 16G XTR is small and spools fast enough with an 8cm housing so why not go with 8cm rather than 7cm housing.

As for Blouch, I presume that they want to sell what they think gives the best result to build their reputation so that they receive good reviews which increases demand for their product. So, they probably don't sell the 7cm housing standard on the 16G XTR because the 8cm generally gives a better result. Further, the 2.0 Turbo EJ engines haven't been sold in a WRX since 2004, so the demand for a 7cm housing is less today that before - I presume that 2.5 EJ owners would rather have an 8cm or 10cm housing.

But like you found out, you can still order it with a 7cm housing if you want it.

On another note, my son played in a baseball tournament in Lebanon, PA this past weekend (It was a Hershey, PA tournament, but fields were scattered for the different age groups). His games were played a few miles from Blouch and I was surprised and excited when I drove past the Blouch building - it was totally unexpected.
