Smile Does anyone know the part # for the secondary air filter box gasket for a '99

I have a '99 RS and was told that I could get a little more power if I remove the second air filter. When I did that, the car just stalled, so I just forgot about the whole thing until recently I joined the club, and saw a few messages posted, saying that you need a gasket there to make it work. If anyone knows the part number and the manufacturer, please let me know. I appreciate it!

Oh, and if there are any other simple ways to boost power, please tell me. Thanks!

The part number for the gasket is:
16553AA041

It cost $35.35 from www.supartparts.com
Just call and ask for Scott in the internet divison.

Other helpful things are an Amsoil Panel filter. www.Amsoil.com
It was about $40 with one bottle of oil.

I also removed the intake silencer from the fender on my 99. I have been very happy this intake setup. I do not think the car is any faster, but it sure is more responsive.

I get 30 mpg on trips too, but I have a 2.25" Rallispec cat-back system also.

If you have any questions, please e-mail me.

Don't forget about the 4000-5000 rpm WOT drone/buzz with that setup.

(I have the exact same thing as Paul... except I gutted my 2nd filter instead of buying the gasket. Not a good idea btw, since the gutted filter is very flimsy-- I'd buy the gasket if I did it all over again.)

Colin, you are right. It is more noisey, but much quieter than the intake systems I have heard. That is why it does not bug me too much, and the exhaust note kind of comes in too. When your accelerating like that, do people really want the car quiet?

Let us know how things go.
