Genesis Coupe. Clutch was hard, unforgiving, and had a very narrow catch point. Chore to drive daily.

2017 STI! Trial by fire, the first 500 miles were brutal on my wife, she still won't willingly allow me to drive us anywhere!

First standard tranny was a yamaha 4 wheeler and first car technically was a old POS Geo metro that me and a few friends would joy ride in and pretty much just beat it up. My first actual standard transmission car that I owned tho was a 95 Eclipse GST. The trans was sloppy and the clutch was soft AF but it was a fun car.

First car I learned to drive a stick in was my brothers new 1962 VW bug. If it was 1962 then I was 13. It sat in the back yard in it's special place out of the way, and when no one was at home I would sit in it and run through the gears working the clutch and even practicing double clutching. All this with no key. When I was finally taken to the desert (29 Palms?) to get my first driving lesson (in the same car) I took off like an old pro. My mother didn't know what had hit her. As we were winding our way down a desert one lane unimproved road a pack of 6 to 8 dogs decided we were trespassing and attacked me on the drivers side of the car. Fifteen to twenty mph quickly became 35 as I got the heck out of there, and mother screamed at the top of her lungs. I don't think I got another road test before I finished driver training. The next car I got to drive was the '57 Buick. Did you know that when you release the steering wheel of a '57 Buick Century it doesn't recenter itself? Neither did I. Drove over the median. The left "A" frame broke about a week later...

1999 Peterbilt 379 (3406e Cat, 18 Speed Eaton) when I was 14, followed shortly by a 1994 Ford Ranger (2.3 5-Speed). Althought technically various 4 wheelers, dirt bikes and tractors before those 2.

First car I learned to drive on was my Auto to manual converted Civic while in college. It was interesting because while putting the car together, I didnt know a lot of things like what the pedal was supposed to feel like for bleeding purposes and the car could still be started without pressing the clutch in ( had to trick the car into thinking it was in neutral at all times ). Definitely made things interesting..

It was either a 1989 Mazda 323 or a 1984 Toyota Celica Supra. The 140hp from the supra was huge step up from the 323.

1996 BMW M3.

It was also my first care back in the day. Ended up only having it for two months until I took a turn way too fast and hit a brick wall. Lesson learned for sure.

Learned how to operate a clutch when I was 9-10 on an old Honda XR-80. When I got my learner's permit at 15.5 I wasn't allowed to drive my dad's automatic-trans truck until I could proficiently drive my mom's second gen 5MT tracker. I prefer standard now, most of my past DD's have been manuals.
