You understand that the DS "no diff" thing is new to me, right? I am used to replacing the stock diff every year, just before Nationals, in my FS Camaro.

I also had the unfortunate experience of almost running Stompy into a light pole one of the first times I drove it when it was still on stock diffs. Joel told me after the fact that it was prone to shooting off in seemingly random directions if it lifted the inside rear wheel (really, once the wheel came down, it would take off in whatever direction the car was currently facing, not necessarily what direction the wheels were pointing). It was infinitely more controllable with diffs.

I didn't have any weird stuff happening like the STi experience yesterday, but neither did I have any problems with wheel spin.

So... we'll see. The lack of wheel spin issues could simply be that I'm not pushing the car hard enough.

I hadn't seen it.

I'm wondering if I should do one for the '06.

Not a bad idea.

I just did it cause it was winter time and I was bored. Also some people search the conversions for 255 swaps. I thought it may help with that process.

Plus I wanted to share set-up with anyone else interested in what the car has in it/on it.

I don't think I'm going to request it be moved to autocross however.

I have a feeling mine will be the STX, ESP, SM, to XP build.

I just got the rears professionally rolled (and still the Subaru Paing cracked a bit (but fixed it with a touch up brush).

Should enjoy this weekend down in Sebring!

he did, yes. BL/BP Legacies have a little rubber trim on the fender. For it to look flush, they gave the fender a slight crease and there apparently the paint was thin.

Funny that in the new 2010 Legacy/Outback they are back to a normal fender.

I got Tommy Pulliam to drive the car with me yesterday at Turner Field (Atlanta points event). I'd had a new clutch put in on Friday, along with a lightweight flywheel, and while the car was in the shop, I had them disconnect the front swaybar.

The car didn't feel much different than the previous weekend, and Turner Field has about the same level of grip as FedEx Field. I'm probably going to mess with some shock settings (again!) before runs at the DC Pro. I'm finally getting comfortable with the car -- which is saying a lot, since Turner Field has this big, scary blue wall of death around most of the course.

Tommy PAXed 6th (ST's Tim Smith was 1st overall), and while I PAXed 13th, I was only 0.2s back from him. The course wasn't very conducive to my car, with one turn that was too tight to leave it in second, but too fast for first to be very effective. Overall, I was pretty happy.

Glad you're getting more comfortable in the car. The DC Pro will definitely be a blast!

Have you had yours weighed yet Karen?

I'd be interested in how ours would compare in weight.

Only in DS trim at Topeka last year. I'm sure yours weighs a lot less than mine.

I'm switching to 285/30/18 Hoosiers on 18x10 Rota SVN-Rs (+30 offset) this week.

Old setup:
275/40/17 A6 on 17x8.5 +48 SSR Type-C
Camber: -2.4 front, -1.2 rear
Toe: 0 all around
Ride height: 14.25" front 13.75" rear

I'm running Racecomp T2s w/ 600f/500r springs. For swaybars I have whiteline the 27/29 adj front bar on the soft setting and 24 adj rear sway on the middle setting.

I think the car was working nicely with that setup, it rotated well and I couldn't complain about the grip.

I'm getting an alignment done on Thursday. With the old setup my front camber was limited by inside strut clearance.. With the new wheels things should be better. I'm going to shoot for -3 front -1.2 rear. I'll get as much camber as I can via the strut bolt before using the plates.

Also with the wider wheels I'm concerned about the rear fender coming down on the tire. Especially with just 500lb/in springs in the rear. I think I'm going to reset the ride height to 13.75" front and 14" rear.

Any thoughts regarding ride height and alignment?

I had my last set of r-comps balanced. The shop I go to has Hunter roadforce equipment. Do I need to bother with balancing my r-comps or can I save a few bucks?

I'm looking forward to the new setup. But I'm changing so many things.. I don't know what I'll end up with this weekend.

^^^ Pics or it isn't happening

The suggested ride height does not sound out of line at all (thats near where I was, on slightly stiffer spings, pre-fender "work"). Alignment sounds like a good starting point as well.

Don't waste your money balancing.

G/L and see you in Toledo.

Cool I'll skip the wheel balancing.

I need to find a level surface to adjust the ride height tonight.

I can just try what I did last year and call the day before. I'll be in the neighborhood anyway, so it's worth a shot.

Ran the car with the new wheels and alignment this past weekend.

It's 100% more awesome. Car felt stiffer and much more planted. Turn in is quicker but seems to require a little more initial effort. Once the car starts turning it rotates very nicely.

I hit a crap load of cones on my first run. I definitely had to slow my hands down and adjust

Awesome setup dodwrx! Do you think you'll see much in the way of accelerated wheel bearing wear?

I'm not sure. The wheels are only used for autocross so last weekend they saw ~5 minutes of usage .

I've got 82k miles on my car w/ the original bearings. I wouldn't complain if I had to change soon. Hopefully it can wait till winter!

I made an appointment to get the car dyno tuned on Monday. I've got a larger TMIC I'm going to try out and it will be good to get some baseline numbers.
